Trump’s latest, most alarming rant calling reports of him “slowing up” treasonous has governors and lawmakers more alarmed than outraged

Trump says "he created an aura around the United States"

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, recently posted a long rant on Truth Social venting that he has “created an aura around the United States,” but instead the press has chosen to focus on his alleged declining mental health. In the post, the president even suggested that this could be treasonous, if you think about it. Former Congressman Justin Amash and Governor Gavin Newsom have since wondered whether this is actually proof that Trump’s mental state is deteriorating.

Frankly, these posts have become so juvenile that the concern is no longer whether Trump is simply too unhinged but whether he’s even the one writing them. Take the word aura — where would a 79-year-old be spending enough time with Gen Z to pick up their slang? At this point, it’s only a matter of time before the White House account on Twitter makes a “6 7” joke.

Trump getting help with his comms isn’t an issue. It’s perfectly acceptable for a White House secretary to type out messages for the president and have him sign off on them. It’s even fine if they add their own flair. But the president is simultaneously making a fuss about the Joe Biden administration’s alleged use of autopens. So if any would have a problem with this, it’s him.

Meanwhile, Trump has sores on his hand he tries to hide, he makes Freudian slips about getting impromptu MRIs, and he’s constantly photographed sleeping during meetings. There are certainly older individuals who can still lead effectively — you can see that in every corner of the world. It’s not age that matters; it’s the body sending you signs that you are “slowing up,” as the president himself puts it.

On X, Amash posted a screenshot of Trump’s rant and noted that if anyone else posted messages like this, they’d be assumed mentally ill. That’s true — though technically, Ye (formerly Kanye West) still manages to keep people invested in deranged posts every few months. Gavin Newsom, ever the thorn in Trump’s side, immediately accepted Trump’s dare to question his health by doing exactly what Trump had forbidden.

True to form, Trump blames questions about his health on the “deep state” running the media. Meanwhile, allies like David Ellison are consolidating media, firing network staff, and reviving long-dead franchises at the president’s behest. It’s all a distraction — something to pull attention away from whether Trump has mentally deteriorated, just as he once accused others.

In Newsom’s replies, one user pointed out that Europe’s history is full of kings and queens who made it illegal to question their health. He ended the post with a cheeky suggestion that he hoped this “new rule” wouldn’t violate free speech. Rules like that are exactly why people sought sovereignty across the globe — and, frankly, why people took to the streets for the No Kings protest.

The worst thing about Trump’s post is the way he makes cognitive tests sound like they’re quizzing him on rocket science, when all they’re asking him to do is identify an elephant.
