A heated argument filled with swear words between South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace and a voter at an Ulta beauty store has spread widely online. The incident, which was recorded on video and shared across social media, shows Mace in a loud and angry exchange with Ely Murray-Quick, who had asked her about upcoming town hall meetings.
The conversation started with Murray-Quick politely asking Mace about her plans for public appearances. Instead of giving a straightforward answer, Mace suddenly mentioned her past votes supporting gay marriage, apparently assuming Murray-Quick’s sexual orientation. When Murray-Quick asked why that was relevant to the question about town halls, Mace insisted it was directly connected, per Advocate and TMZ.
We reported this earlier but she has yet to apologize. In fact, it seems like there are some comments on her Instagram that support her. Anyone who has a positive message is replied to with another positive comment back.
Representative Nancy Mace shouted at man over a standard question
Nancy felt that she was so much in the right that she posted the video on Instagram with the comment “Some unhinged lunatic, a man wearing daisy dukes, at a makeup store, got in my face today. Dems are nuts. So I went off – and I won’t be backing down. I hold the line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Try me.”
This is concerning because she is a public servant, and the question was very much something she should have answered without issues. In the past, she falsely claimed that a transgender activist had assaulted her, but prosecutors later dropped the case because witnesses gave conflicting accounts. She also made fun of a transgender woman on social media, which led to a wave of transphobic attacks against the woman.
The discussion that Nancy is in hot water for now ended up turning into a shouting match, with both sides using strong language. Mace accused Murray-Quick of harassing her, repeatedly telling him to “get out of my face,” even though they were standing far apart. The argument ended with insults and profanity from both people, but it felt like the man was simply defending himself from the representative.
After she assumed his concern was about gay marriage, he said, “Do you think everything about me has to do with gay marriage? That’s your first stance when speaking with me?” to which Mace responded with “Absolutely.”
“You couldn’t have a humane conversation with me?” he ask. Mace then said, “People on the left are absolutely f***ing crazy.” At that, the man turned to walk away, trying to end the conversation, just as Mace yelled, “F**k you!”
Appearing stunned, the man turned back. “You say ‘f**k me’? You’re going to be voted out so fast this year. I can’t wait for you to f***ing—”
but Mace interrupted with, “I’m not. I won by so much.”
“You’re a disgrace to this state. That’s what you are,” he said. “I asked you a simple question, and you just go on this tirade and tell me ‘f**k you.’”
Then the two shouted “f**k” at each other a few times. When the man asked the representative if she was going to say “f***k” you over a question, Mace confirmed that she “sure did.”
Even with her aggressive style, she was reelected in November 2024 for a third term. Since she’s been known to treat others this way, I wouldn’t doubt that this won’t affect her numbers, as this is the attitude she has kept up.
