Fast food customers have started treating their orders less like a meal and more like something to be audited, and the latest order to get this treatment came from a Chick-fil-A bag.
A TikTok user from Colorado going by bettywhitelover filmed herself counting out a 30-count Chick-fil-A nugget order piece by piece, a move she said was inspired by another video she had come across earlier that day. In that clip, according to Betty, someone ordered a 50-count bucket of KFC popcorn chicken and counted only 35 pieces once they got home, leaving them 15 short. Betty said the discrepancy was enough to make her want to check her own order before eating it.
She and her girlfriend set up a camera, opened the box, and started counting out loud. The pace stays casual for most of the video, with the count climbing steadily through the twenties as the two wait to see if it reaches the advertised number. The count stops at 27.
Thirty nuggets? Not quite
“You f—ing liars!” Betty says once the tally comes up short. She then points to one remaining piece, noticeably smaller than the rest, and says “This I’m not gonna count as a chicken nugget,” before adding, “Do f—ing better!” By her count, that puts the order three nuggets under what was paid for, and she says she is “pissed.”
Betty’s final number does rest partly on a judgment call. The extra piece she declines to count is still technically in the box, meaning her total of 27 reflects what she considered full-sized nuggets rather than every piece included in the order.
The clip has drawn thousands of comments, with many viewers arguing that Betty’s order was more than just a one-off mistake. One commenter wrote, “If you were $.10 short, you would not get your chicken nuggets. I think we need to start suing these companies for a false advertising,” while another suggested people “contact a lawyer and sue for false advertisement.
A third commenter put it more bluntly, asking, “so they can rob us but we can’t rob them.”
Others used the moment to bring up their own experiences with portion sizes at other chains. One commenter wrote, “Meanwhile I order 25 munchkins at Dunkin and get 40-50,” showing that these counts can swing in a customer’s favor just as easily as against it.
Betty’s video comes as more fast food complaints are playing out on TikTok, where customers regularly post videos questioning everything from portion sizes to whether they received what they paid for. The video alone can’t say for sure whether Chick-fil-A actually shorted the order. Either way, Betty counted 27 nuggets and was convinced she had been shorted three.
