‘A House of Leaves situation’: Man notices hidden room in his house after spotting extra window but the entrance is well hidden

The idea of a secret room existing somewhere in your own house is oddly terrifying. Our homes are supposed to be our safe spaces, a familiar place where there are no secrets, so imagine finding out your home has a hidden room you were previously unaware of. It would be terrifying but at least you’d have the perfect opportunity to make some viral content on TikTok right?

Weird secret rooms are one of the coolest but creepiest types of videos you’ll find on TikTok, I would even argue there’s enough videos like this on the app to make them a niche little sub-genre. TikToker @Jaystylex is sharing the weird discovery he recently made about his own house and the people of TikTok are hooked. Jay first realized something was off when he noticed a window on the outside of his house which didn’t go to a room which he couldn’t access from inside. 

When Jay points the camera through the window what appears to be little plastic figurines can be seen through a gap in the curtains.

Well color me intrigued, let’s see where this rabbit hole goes.

After realizing he had one too many windows Jay immediately started looking for a way into the room and it wasn’t long before he found what he was seeking. There’s a few weird characteristics about the house which he points out; one is an old bureau, or as he calls it a “bur-io,” which is nailed to the wall. Jay claims it was there when he bought the house and he’s never gotten rid of it on account of it being nailed into the wall.

Anyways, you’ll never guess where the secret entrance to the super secret room is. That’s right, it’s behind the old Bureau. Jay shows a visible gap that seems to be where the entrance to the room is.

The people of TikTok were skeptical

While this is a pretty cool find it’s important to remember that this is the internet, people lie on here all the time. In this case viewers expressed their skepticism that Jay would go so long without questioning what the old bureau was doing there, or how it took so long to notice the extra window. 

However, others fully believe Jay’s story comparing it to the bestselling novel, House of Leaves. In fact, some have gone a step further, claiming that they can hear a voice that says “help me” in the video. While Jay denies the presence of a disembodied voice in the video he does insist that the video is genuine and explains some of the reservations viewers expressed in a follow-up video.

As of now Jay has yet to actually venture into the mysterious room although it seems like half of TikTok are dying to know what’s inside. We’ll have to wait until he finds a way to get through the old Bureau as he claims he can’t break through it. Until we see what’s inside the room we’ll hold off on judging whether or not this whole thing is real or not.
