Atlanta woman orders a 6-ounce filet at LongHorn Steakhouse. Then her jaw drops after seeing what she actually received: ‘So they went down’

She wasn’t expecting that

A woman who posts on TikTok as Nae (@grow.with.nae) said in a restaurant video that she was upset about the size of a steak she received at LongHorn Steakhouse. The video had gained 39,200 views. She pointed at the meat on her plate and blamed heavy promotion of the kids steak on TikTok.

Nae said, “See what the f–k y’all done did? Y’all done promoted that kid steak on TikTok too f–king much, so they went down from the 6 ounce to the 4 ounce.” She also said, “See what y’all did?” and used the line “So they went down.” Her caption read, “It’s still was more than enough for me tho.”

The TikTok video opened on a white plate holding a steak with a dark, seared crust beside a large baked sweet potato. The potato appeared topped with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and chopped green onions. Nae’s hand, with dark nail polish, pointed at the steak as other diners and plates stayed out of focus in the background.

Online articles describe LongHorn’s kids’ steak as the same sirloin sold at a lower price

A June 4, 2025 Chowhound article by Amanda Berkey stated that some diners look for cheaper chain-restaurant meals and that one method circulating online is ordering from the kids menu. The article said a 6-ounce kid’s sirloin steak at LongHorn Steakhouse with a loaded baked potato and a drink runs about $10, with prices varying by location.

Berkey wrote that the Renegade sirloin, described as the same steak as the kids’ meal, plus a loaded baked potato on the adult menu costs almost $20. She said the adult plate comes with soup or salad while the kids version comes with a drink, and that the steak is the same size and quality. She also said kids receive adult-sized sides at LongHorn.

Chowhound stated that adults are not permitted to order off the kids’ menu when dining in at most LongHorn locations, so some people place a to-go order instead. The article listed side options such as elote-style fire-grilled corn on the cob and a baked sweet potato loaded with butter and cinnamon sugar. It said adding soup costs about $6 and a side salad about $4.50.

Another article from The Takeout said LongHorn is known for affordable steaks, but some steaks now cost upwards of $40. It stated that people online had found the 6-ounce sirloin from the kids menu to be the same as the adult sirloin, including the nutrition facts, and that in some cases it looked bigger. The outlet said the kids’ meal includes a drink, while the adult meal includes a salad, and that the kids version can include grapes as a side.

It also said the kids’ menu is cheaper by around $6, depending on location. It also stated that diners must be under 12 to order from the kids’ menu in the restaurant and that employees have been told to follow that rule. It said the takeout menu on the site includes the sirloin steak and that customers can choose doneness. LongHorn Steakhouse’s portion sizes have faced scrutiny, such as when a man placed his finger next to a steak for a size comparison.

The same Takeout article said people also try to order through delivery apps. It noted that LongHorn has raised kids’ menu prices in recent years but that the kids’ options still cost less than adult ones. This practice of using the kids menu as a budget hack has reportedly led to changes, such as when LongHorn allegedly cut its kids’ sirloin from 6 oz to 4 oz.

Viewers responding to Nae’s video focused on portion size, doneness, and whether adults should order kids’ meals. One commenter wrote, “As they should.” Another wrote, “Adults ordering off the kids menu is crazy. Not even allowed at my restaurant.”

Some comments questioned how the steak was cooked. One person wrote, “Is that a well done steak? It started out at 6 ounces but you cooked 2 ounces out of it.” Another wrote, “It was 6 oz.. once you cook it into shoe leather it becomes much smaller.”

A commenter who said they were a former manager wrote, “kids steak is 6 Oz to its used to be a 5 Oz then brought it to a 6 Oz and with the burgers they went from a 5oz burger to a 8oz burger the kids meals got burger coming from a former manager.” Another commenter wrote, “Some people just don’t know how to be quiet!”
