Black couple sits down at Waffle House for breakfast. Then they watch as customers who arrived after them get served: ‘Feel like this is racism’

Allegedly, no one came to their table

A woman said she and her husband sat down at a Waffle House in Georgia for breakfast and watched as customers who arrived after them received service first. She posts on TikTok as @out_it_out and shared the clip under the caption “Dam, I never thought I’d be making a post like this. I just wanted a waffle @Waffle House.” The video has gained hundreds of thousands of views.

In the video, the woman said her feelings were hurt a little bit after they walked in and noticed only one person who looked like them. She explained they decided to stay anyway because the restaurant still has good food. She claimed they sat down before a customer behind them and that a waitress in a black uniform saw them come in.

The woman stated they waited about five minutes with no one greeting them or coming to their table. She said the later-arriving customer was already being served while they sat at a booth with a menu in front of them. She explained that is when she began recording.

Woman records service at Georgia Waffle House before leaving

The woman said in her TikTok video that she and her husband decided to stay at first because the restaurant still has good food. She explained they came to the location at 4670 Bill Gardner Pkwy in Locust Grove, Georgia. In the clip, she pointed out the waitress serving other customers while they sat at a booth with a menu on the table. Waffle House service has gone viral before, including a clip of workers stopping to judge a customer.

She stated the young lady sitting behind her husband came in after them and was already being served. The woman said she waited and played with the camera as another couple arrived. She claimed she wanted to see if those customers would get served in case the place was simply crowded or packed.

The woman said the waitress came to the other table for the third time without once approaching theirs. She mimicked the greeting given to the later arrivals, saying, “Good morning, what would you guys get to get? Breakfast?” She added that their own table received nothing. She stated, “I really feel like this is racism in its finest.”

She explained they were still waiting with no one saying anything. The woman said they did not even have d–n silverware at that point. She described telling her husband she thought they should go after more customers who arrived later received service. The video ends with her walking out and showing the exterior of the Waffle House.

One commenter suggested ordering everything on the menu and then walking out once it is made. Another wrote, “Just speak up. A simple, excuse me do you know who serving this table?” Similar complaints about being skipped in line have surfaced elsewhere, such as a case of alleged racism at a nail salon.

A different viewer said the staff probably try to wait until customers get irritated and ask for service, then claim they are being rude and aggressive. One person noted the husband appeared oblivious. Another commenter wrote, “i don’t see what racist about this.” A separate viewer recommended filing a discrimination lawsuit.
