‘Can’t even go eat’: Man orders two triple dippers for $50 and 42 patron margaritas at Chili’s. Then he sees the $782.82 receipt

Cody Crisler, who posts on TikTok as @_cody_wayne, shared a photo of a Chili’s Grill & Bar receipt and wrote that the Triple Dippers were getting expensive. The post has drawn about 1.8 million views.

Overlaid on the receipt image was the line, “Can’t even go eat at Chili’s without spending a fortune these days,” along with exasperated and pleading face emojis. His caption read, “Those triple dippers are getting Hella expensive.”

The receipt shown in the post was dated 07/21/2025 and listed two guests. It displayed food and drink lines that added up to a large total before tax.

The image identified the restaurant as Chili’s Grill & Bar. Under the items, it listed “2 TRIPLE DIPPER Chicken Crispers®, Boneless Wings, Southwestern Eggrolls” for $49.98.  It also listed “42 PATRÓN MARGARITA Strawberry Rock or Frozen” for $672.42.

In the image, “1 Chips & Salsa” showed $0.00, and “1 Ranch” showed $0.79. The receipt image also showed a subtotal of $723.19 and tax of $59.63. The total and balance due both appeared as $782.82. The Triple Dipper is a popular menu item, such as when a woman ordered one for her family and reacted to her first bite of the chicken crispers.

Crisler did not add further explanation in the caption beyond the line about Triple Dippers. The overlay on the photo is what framed the bill as costly.

Viewers replied under the post about the drink total, the food price, and the ranch line. Several comments treated the receipt as unusual because of the number of margaritas listed next to two Triple Dippers. One commenter pointed to the drink price and wrote, “16 for margaritas is kinda insane.”

Another focused on the side charge and wrote, “$0.79 for ranch!!!! What is this world coming too!!!!!” A different commenter suggested skipping that item and wrote, “Next time save money and don’t order the Ranch.”

One person turned to the drink count and wrote, “Forget the Chili’s bill. I wanna see the hospital bill from after this 42 margarita adventure.” Another questioned the appetizer price and wrote, “$50 for two triple dippers?!? You got ripped off dude.” Chili’s triple dipper has drawn scrutiny elsewhere, like when a Vermont woman’s order was called unacceptable.

A commenter said the receipt did not look real and wrote, “This is fake. No one is leaving Chilis after 28 shots of patron in anything but an ambulance.” One more comment tied the ranch fee to tipping and wrote, “They charged you for a ranch after spending that much money? There goes your tip server.”
