A rumored top choice for DC’s next Superman ticks all of the boxes

Could this actor don the red cape in the DCU?

Some rumored top contenders for DC’s Superman: Legacy were recently revealed. While there is a fine selection of who could play some of the lead characters, there was discussion on who could be perfect to play Superman, and out of all the rumored castings, only one person was seen as good enough for the role.

To recap, DC’s co-chief James Gunn revealed what he’s looking for in this Superman reboot, which is someone younger and approachable. He also confirmed that he’s going to consider new faces in Hollywood to have roles in the DCU. Reddit user u/Few-Road6238 argued on r/DC_Cinematic that out of all the rumored actors that may or may not be in conversations for the role, David Corenswet could be perfect.

According to The Wrap, it was rumored that Corenswet was up against Nicholas Hoult, Jacob Elordi, and Andrew Richardson to don the red cape. So far, it wasn’t announced who will be DC’s next Man of Steel, but the author claimed that Corenswet was their pick.

According to his IMDB page, Corenswet is currently known for his roles in House of Cards, The Politician, and Pearl. And unlike the other rumored potential cast members, it’s safe to say that people are confident that he may be good for the role, even if he isn’t a huge Hollywood staple.

However, not everyone agrees with this potential casting choice. Some pointed out that Corenswet looks too similar to Henry Cavill. Meanwhile, others have other actors in mind that could play the character. Others hoped that Hoult would get the role, considering his history in past X-Men films.

So far, Gunn revealed that only one person has been cast for Superman: Legacy and he will not comment on the rumored actors who may be in talks for the film. At the moment, no official cast members have been confirmed to play the part. So perhaps more will be revealed next year once the film enters production.

Superman: Legacy is the first film to be released for the upcoming DC reboot and the third project in “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters,” right after the release of the DC TV series, Waller. Full details for this Superman film have not yet been released, but it was announced by Gunn himself that Superman: Legacy is scheduled to come out in 2025.
