‘Don’t leave anyone with your pet’: Woman comes back from Miami trip to find the dogsitter had left her pups to die

A woman has warned others on TikTok to be wary of who they ask to look after their pets after she returned from a short trip in Miami and was met with a horrific and tragic sight. She arrived home to find one of her two puppies had sadly passed away while the other had been left to starve.

The woman shared a video showing herself and the surviving dog as she holds back tears. The dog seems visibly traumatized and she claims she found the puppy shaking uncontrollably and sitting in his own poop next to his dead brother. The caption explains that she was in Miami for four days but nobody was caring for the dogs while she was away. Unfortunately not all dogsitters can be trusted.

The video is heartbreaking to watch but at the very least one of the dogs was saved. Of course, people on TikTok were appalled by the cruelty the pups had been subjected to, “I don’t understand people I could never,” Others offered to dog sit for the woman if she ever needed anyone in the future but it’s hard to imagine her ever trusting another person with her dogs again.

What happened to the dogs?

In a second video the woman gave a more in depth explanation as to what happened before and while she was away. She explains that one of the dogs, the one that died, actually belonged to her brother. She had fed and prepared the both of the four-month old puppies with overnight bags and food to be taken with them for their time apart. 

The owner had left them for a family member to pick up and drop off at their aunt’s. However, rather than doing that they left the dogs in a cage, unattended and unfed without informing anyone what was going on. 

Unfortunately by the time the woman found out about the neglect her dogs were being subjected to it was already too late for her brother’s dog. Commenters on TikTok shared their sympathies with her, “I’m so so sorry this happened to you and your brother.” wrote one person, “Absolutely heartbreaking,” added another.

While it certainly is tragic the woman and her dog are healing and moving past the traumatic event. In a recent video from a month later the woman states that she has not left her beloved pet since and that both of them are doing better now despite it all. The young pup appears much more lively and energetic compared to the first clip, hopefully both can continue to heal and move on from what happened.
