‘Get a real job’: Bride-to-be realizes florist is scamming her with $1,800 bouquet she only bought for $800 on Etsy

Weddings are expensive, and they tend to be more expensive when scammers get involved.  One bride-to-be on TikTok claimed that the florist she had hired had attempted to scam her out of $1,000 by using an artist found on Etsy, but thankfully, a moment of clarity on the bride’s end revealed the attempted deceit.

Shiv received a message from her wedding florist containing a picture of a bouquet and a message: “Her daughter was having severe birth complications, and she wanted to be there for her daughter.” The florist then asked her if she would be okay with “all fake flowers.” The photo was a fake bouquet that the florist was claiming to be her own. 

In her video on TikTok, Shiv claimed she told the florist she was fine with the changes: “That is fine with me; they last forever, why not? I hope your daughter’s okay. Thank you for letting me know.” But as she sent the message, Shiv claimed she had a realization: “This bouquet is in front of a yellow door, a very distinct yellow door, much like an Etsy artist I was looking at eight months ago.”

The bouquet came from an artist on Etsy

Shiv’s moment of clarity brought her to the page of an Australian Etsy artist who goes by “rosyrosemelb” and specializes in fake bouquets, and what she found revealed the florist’s deception for all to see. 

Shiv asked the Etsy artist if she was working on an order for the florist and asked what date the order was to be done by. Her questions revealed what she already suspected: her florist was going to purchase the Etsy artist’s work for Shiv’s wedding and pass it off as her own. Finally, Shiv sent a picture of the work to the Etsy artist to confirm it was her work, and the artist responded, “Oh my, that is my work; I was messaging her this morning.”

The artist then asked Shiv how much she was being charged, and that’s when she found out that the florist was only paying $800 for the bouquet, yet she was charging Shiv an additional $1,000, bringing the total price for the bride to $1,800. 

Shiv then messages her florist to “see if she’ll double down,” and she did, telling the bride she “had an Australian connect that sold her loose stems.” Shiv then responded with a paragraph revealing all she had found out and calling out the florist: “Your family is invited to my wedding; they would be extremely disappointed to know that you are doing this to me.”

Needless to say, Shiv ended up getting a refund from the florist and actually chose to work with the Etsy artist for her wedding bouquet instead.
