‘Grown men acting like idiots!’: Grand opening chaos erupts at a Bass Pro Shop as grown men engage in a brawl over waiting over the strangest reason

Went to blows for dumb reasons.

Chaos erupted during the grand opening weekend of a new Bass Pro Shops in Odessa, Texas, when a simple argument over a bathroom line escalated into a full-blown physical brawl. You’d think a massive fight at a grand opening would be over a spectacular doorbuster deal or maybe the last fishing rod on the shelf, but nope, this entire confrontation was all about someone taking too long in the restroom. That’s genuinely wild.

The shocking incident can be seen in a tweet. Witnesses later told police that the initial confrontation began between two men standing in line for the store’s facilities. One of the men was waiting alongside his wife and child and grew seriously irritated because another shopper was apparently spending excessive time inside the stall, per Daily Dot.

According to the official police report, the situation quickly devolved when the frustrated man confronted the stall occupant as he finally emerged. Initially, they stepped outside the store to argue, trying to handle their disagreement away from the crowds. However, their tempers snapped, and they quickly returned inside, where the verbal fight turned physical right near the bathrooms.

I hope they washed their hands first

Footage posted to X showed multiple pairs of men just throwing down near the restrooms. These weren’t exactly professional boxers; the punches were described as “sloppy,” and the groups tumbled across the store floor, knocking merchandise over in the process. The public assault and brawl wasn’t limited to the original two instigators either, as two distinct clusters of men tussled. I have to say, seeing grown men rolling around on the floor of a Bass Pro Shops is a terrible look for everyone involved.

We even saw one guy in a Texas Longhorns jersey jump into the fray, throwing hits and shoving one of the brawlers down before workers and customers finally intervened to pull everyone apart, ending the brief moment of chaos.

The sheer absurdity of the situation caused extreme outrage among bystanders. I mean, imagine bringing your family to a grand opening and seeing this mess. One woman’s reaction perfectly summed up the general sentiment, as she was heard yelling over the noise, “Grown-a** men acting like idiots!” She didn’t stop there, adding a sharp critique of the behavior: “And you wonder why our schools are falling apart! It’s their fault! Look at the example that you’re setting!” That’s a top-tier, visceral reaction to such ridiculous public conduct.

Thankfully, while the men reported minor injuries, they didn’t need hospital treatment, which is probably a good thing since they were fighting over a toilet. The police report confirms that nobody actually pressed criminal charges against anyone involved. However, officers weren’t letting the instigators off the hook entirely.

They issued criminal trespass warnings to the men who started the confrontation, barring them from ever returning to that Bass Pro Shops location. You simply can’t turn a retail store into a boxing ring and expect to come back later.
