‘I got 99 problems but a Sith ain’t one’: Ice-T wants to be a Star Wars villain

Ice-T took to Twitter to declare what he hopes his next film role will be.

Ice-T has put the word out on the streets that he’s aiming to journey to a galaxy far, far away — and for villainous purposes. Mark Hamill might have to take notice, because the Law & Order: SVU actor is not exactly a man of nonsense, and when he gets ideas in his head, they tend to get realized, as Amazon can confirm.

Ice-T is no stranger to films, though some aren’t anything to brag about. Then again, fighting a Leprechaun in the Hood might have been a good warm up though for fighting Yoda in space.

Tracy Marrow (that’s his given name) took to Twitter to straight up tell us his desire to be a villain in a Star Wars film. No doubt his villain would wake up at 6 ‘n the Morning and be an OG in the galaxy, a sort of New Jack Hustler whose High Rollers philosophy could be Mind Over Matter. His character, decked out in several Colors, could say, “I got 99 Problems but a Sith ain’t one,” (yes, it’s an Ice-T song, Jay Z took it long after). After he defeats enemies with his own special Power, his catchphrase could simply be, “You Played Yourself.”

All readers unfamiliar with Ice-T’s songs are now likely scratching their heads so let’s move on.

Despite the Leprechaun in the Hood, the rapper’s film career is not all bad, especially when you consider New Jack City, Trespass, and the underrated film Ricochet starring Denzel Washington and John Lithgow. In fact, Lithgow actually starred as Yoda is the highly-regarded NPR specials of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi; an audio-only version of the original Star Wars trilogy that sounds as good as you’d expect, so Marrow can at least say he has already acted with Yoda.

Ice-T could be a Boba Fett type of character, at least in the way Fett was depicted in the films. Of course, fans would likely refer to him as “Iced Boba Tea” so his character would have to be not-so-obviously Boba inspired.

In all seriousness, a secondary villain or anti-hero role in The Mandalorian is probably the most likely possibility, if it were to happen at all. It gives Disney a chance to see how Ice T does without using him much at first, so it’s not really a big risk. They also just had another musical artist on the show with Lizzo making a surprise appearance.

Worth noting that Snoop Dogg’s cousin, Mercedes Varnado, better-known as former WWE champion Sasha Banks, is on The Mandalorian. Snoop Dogg collaborated with Ice-T last year on a remake of Ice-T’s rap classic “6 ‘n the Morning,” which Snoop himself often referenced in his lyrics and even did his own version of it.

Ice-T followed up that 1986 song, which was really a story told in rap form, by being the first rapper to create a prequel when he told the backstory in his 1991 song “Midnight.” That was eight years before the Star Wars prequels. So, who would be joining whom here? Would it be Ice-T joining the Star Wars universe, or what it would be Star Wars joining the Ice-T universe?

Of course, there is always another option which is to just do what many other celebrities have done and suit up as a celebrity stormtrooper. No one will even notice, though it would be funny if Ice-T also does a voiceover of the stormtrooper spreading imperial wisdom to others, especially if such wisdom is similar to that which he spreads on Twitter.
