Man is furious after UPS driver blocked his front door with trash cans. Then he saw birthday package sitting behind them: ‘could not understand’

Turns out the trash cans had a purpose

A UPS driver reportedly dropped off a birthday gift at a family home, but he didn’t leave right away. What he did next confused the homeowner when he saw it on his security camera later.

The story comes from a TikTok video posted by @wqfoa1mltxgcxv4, showing the delivery and security-camera footage while the woman explains what happened. According to her, the driver arrived with a valuable package meant as a birthday gift for the homeowner’s son. He set it against the wall near the front door. Then he went to a nearby trash can and pulled it across the porch, placing it in front of the box and hiding most of the package.

The homeowner saw this on his camera and was angry, the woman says. In her telling, he “could not understand” why the delivery person had moved his trash can.

The homeowner was confused

The driver reportedly kept going, putting a second trash can in front of the first. A cardboard box then went on top, which left the gift hard to spot from the street. Only then did the homeowner get it, according to the woman. The driver was apparently trying to keep the package out of sight from passersby.

Some commenters said the move was simply part of the job. One person who says they drove for UPS in the early 2000s wrote, “THIS is exactly how we were trained! Packages were to be placed ‘out of sight’ the best we could”.

Others thought the driver had another reason. A comment with 4,520 likes said, “Others see and steal it? No. So the kid don’t see the surprise”. A third comment praised the driver’s actions. “This is actually the kindest thing I’ve seen in a long time.”

Porch theft is a common worry for people who have packages delivered to their homes. Drivers at rival carriers have also reportedly gone out of their way for customers. The TikTok does not say where the home is or when the delivery happened.
