Costco shopper Bob Diff (@bobdiff) has shared a TikTok video comparing three types of Kirkland Signature beef patties sold at the store: the regular, grass-fed, and Wagyu versions.
Diff said the regular blue bag cost $34.99 and came with 18 patties, while the Wagyu and grass-fed bags each cost about the same and held 15 patties. On-screen text showed the regular at $1.94 per burger, the Wagyu at $2.33 per burger, and the grass-fed at $2.27 per burger.
He explained that the regular and Wagyu patties were both listed as 75 percent lean and 25 percent fat. He said the grass-fed version was 80 percent lean and 20 percent fat. He noted that he thawed the patties before cooking after an earlier frozen-versus-thawed test, though he added that they can be cooked from frozen.

Diff said his charcoal grill was set to high heat and that the patties cooked quickly. He remarked that the smell of burnt arm hair drifted through the neighborhood as he flipped them. After cooking, he cut each patty in half to check the interior.
He said the regular patty was the driest of the three and added that he would not call it dry at all. Diff said the juiciest was the grass-fed, even though it was the leanest, followed by the Wagyu.
During the taste test, Diff took a bite of the regular patty and said it tasted a little greasy to him, more so than a quarter-pound version he had reviewed before. He described it as having a mild flavor and called it decent, adding that he did not mind it. He then tasted the grass-fed patty and said it had a very strong and bitter flavor compared to the regular one, saying he wasn’t sure he liked it that much.
Finally, he tried the Wagyu patty and said it was definitely his favorite. Diff said it had the softest texture of the three, a mild flavor, and did not taste greasy. He said he would probably spend the extra for the Wagyu over the other two and buy the regular over the grass-fed.
On-screen text in the video displayed his rankings and scores. Diff gave the Wagyu a 7.5 and ranked it first, the regular a 6.8 and ranked it second, and the grass-fed a 6.2 and ranked it third. He ended the video by saying he would see viewers tomorrow.
The video had gained 974,700 views and 41,000 likes at the time the details were recorded. Viewers left a range of reactions in the comments. One commenter questioned the Wagyu label outright, writing, “100% they are not wagyu.”
Another focused on the similar pricing and said the close costs made the differences hard to accept without the review. The commenter wrote, “the fact that they’re all the same price is pretty suspicious. I wouldn’t have believed they were actually different, if not for your awesome and thorough review. Sorry about your arm hair.”
A third comment calculated the combined calories and fat if someone ate all three patties and called the total surprising, writing, “1260 calories, 106 gr of fat, if you ate all 3. that is wild.” Costco trips can sometimes lead to unexpected discoveries too, such as when a man walks into a Costco toilet for a quick break, then goes into panic mode when he discovers something too late.
Other viewers shared personal preferences. One said they would decline an invitation if frozen patties were being served, writing, “don’t invite me over if you’re serving frozen patty burgers.” Another expressed doubt about the Wagyu name in general, stating, “I am convinced that wagyu is a scam. not everything can be wagyued.”
A final commenter recalled an older Costco option, writing, “They used to have a sirloin burger that was a little more expensive than their regular. I always liked that one better.” Debates over burger value can get heated, as when a man refused to pay $4.50 for cheese on a burger at Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill.
