Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Cruella de Vil ensemble leaves State of the Union viewers wondering who wore it better

Marjorie Taylor Greene's State of the Union outfit was the Disney cameo viewers were not expecting.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has made some interesting choices during her time representing Georgia’s 14th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2021 alone, she publicly and proudly harrassed survivors of the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., claimed that the proposed Equality Act, which would outlaw LGBTQ+ discrimination nationwide, “destroys God’s creation,” and responded to the display of a transgender pride flag outside her across-the-hall colleague’s office with a sign reading, “There are TWO genders: Male and Female! Trust the Science!” That colleague has a transgender child.

Last night, Taylor Greene’s interesting choice was far less offensive but just as attention-grabbing: she wore an all-white ensemble with an ostentatious fur collar. Her fashion choice had many social media users comparing her to Disney villain Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians:

More than a few others also thought Taylor Greene bore a striking resemblance to a shrieking baboon:

Even a scowling baboon:

Still others were reminded of Emmy Award-winning actor Jeff Daniels’ character from Dumb and Dumber:

(Note: Daniels didn’t win any accolades for his Dumb and Dumber role, but he did for his television work in Godless and The Newsroom ⏤ which, if you think about the titles of those two shows, makes the MTG comparison even more apt for her detractors.)

It’s also possible that MTG was taking a page from George Takei’s book and paying homage to the big white surveillance balloon that drifted over from China into U.S. airspace last week. This isn’t a bad hot take, considering the fact that many people believe she’s filled with hot air. And let’s not forget her inability to handle Sam Smith’s “evil” Grammys performance.

As for who actually wore the fur-clad ensemble better ⏤ MTG or de Vil ⏤ we’ll let Disney fans decide.
