McDonald’s customer opens their to-go order, finds melted cheese where it doesn’t belong: ‘Someone spent five seconds making it’

A social media post showing what appears to be a McDonald’s fish sandwich with its cheese stuck to the inside of the takeout box has reignited online debate about fast food quality and order accuracy. In a separate X post shared in July 2026, the account uploaded a video that allegedly showed a customer opening what was supposed to be a Big Mac, only to discover what appeared to be half of the signature sandwich.

The cheese-related post, shared on X by the account Clown World on July 14, includes a photo of a sandwich with a slice of melted American cheese hanging from the side of the cardboard container instead of resting on the burger. The account suggested that customers paying higher fast-food prices expect sandwiches to appear as though at least a few moments of care went into assembling them. “Looks like someone spent five seconds making it,” the caption read.

Suggesting widespread discontent with McDonald’s quality control, one commenter noted, “@McDonalds thinks they’re too big to fail! Quality will consistently go down, service will degrade but they’ll keep raising prices. No oversight on their stores, just entitlement!” The exact McDonald’s order the fish sandwich came from was not specified.

Someone else reported “half a Big Mac”

The cheese photo was not the only McDonald’s order Clown World highlighted in July. In the “half a Big Mac” post, the customer alleged they found no lettuce, special sauce, middle bun, or second beef patty, leaving what the account characterized as only half of the advertised burger.

Clown World wrote in part in its caption, “Fast food keeps getting more expensive while quality control somehow keeps getting worse.” A comment on the Big Mac post alleged that a McDonald’s 10-piece nugget meal had a bite taken out of it.

As with the earlier post, McDonald’s has not commented on the Big Mac video. The claims shown have not been independently verified.

But while these viral posts often highlight unusual mistakes, McDonald’s has publicly emphasized improved burger consistency in recent years. In 2023, the company announced changes to its burger preparation process.

Those changes included softer buns, additional Big Mac sauce, and onions added while patties remain on the grill. They also involved adjustments intended to improve melted cheese and overall product quality. McDonald’s said those operational updates aimed to deliver a more consistent experience across its restaurants.
