Men make adrenaline-fueled tornado escape in golf cart: ‘Y’all are supposed to drive away from the tornado’

The men packed up their game and scrambled into the cart just in time!

Two men’s chilled out round of golf turned into a deadly flight for survival in a matter of seconds after a tornado swept its way through the course. The two men, who were on the fifteenth hole when they noticed the bad weather was already upon them, had no choice but to dart into the golf cart and make a desperate race for shelter.

The clip, which was shared by Brobible, was posted by TikTok user, Jonah (Jonahgould19) and has already racked up over five million views. The caption reads, “pov: you get caught in a tornado on hole 15.”

Sure enough, we can see Jonah and his buddy looking at the grey clouds heading their way, “Yo, pick your ball up,” the man recording can be heard saying, as the winds get stronger. The other man can be heard saying, “let’s go,” as they scramble to get in the golf cart. Both men have clearly got their priorities straight, survival first, golf later.

The pair then drive the vehicle as fast as it will go although they’re left with little option but to drive close to the path of the tornado in order to make it to a nearby shelter. At first the two are unsure of where is best to go as the wind and rain rushes towards them, but after a tense few moments one of the men spots a building they can take shelter inside.

As you can imagine there is plenty of cursing and swearing as the two ride for their lives, but thankfully they make it to the small shelter just in time as they record the violent winds sweeping across the course.

Never ignore nature

Jonah and his friend had the correct reaction upon seeing the potentially deadly winds coming their way. They turned tail and ran to the nearest safe spot they could find. Tornadoes should be taken seriously with the number one priority being to find shelter. In this case it was a small wooden building, but it’s better than nothing, seeking shelter is important to help survive such an event.

More than a few commenters on TikTok questioned why the two men drove towards the tornado at first, “Y’all are supposed to drive away from the tornado,” one person sarcastically quipped. Others questioned Jonah and his friend’s self-proclaimed survival instincts, writing, “it wasn’t hiding behind a corner to surprise you, you could’ve left 20 minutes ago.”

According to the National Severe Storms Laboratory, storm spotters look for several different signs of an approaching tornado. These signs include Inflow bands, which are low clouds extending from the main storm, a beaver’s tail, a flat cloud skirting around the edge of the precipitation area, or a wall cloud.

Regardless of whether they could have left earlier or not, the two were able to outrun the tornado and get to safety and that’s what really matters.
