A mother described a frustrating exchange on Facebook Marketplace after she offered a set of her son’s old toy trucks at no cost. Rikki Leigh, who posts on TikTok as @rikkileighh888, shared the story in a video that has gained 268,200 views and more than 1,160 comments.
Rikki began the video by calling people on Marketplace “so f–king stupid” and “so f–king dumb” while explaining the free listing of her son’s smaller toys. She said in the video that she posted four trucks for free pickup. The items included a huge fire truck, a smaller fire truck, a dump truck, and a massive Paw Patrol drivable garage, according to her account.
Rikki explained that a woman messaged her and asked where the original cars from the Paw Patrol truck were. The woman sent a screenshot of an ad from about four years earlier that she found on Google Images, the poster stated.
The Marketplace exchange over free trucks as described in the video
Rikki said she replied that she did not know where the cars were and that they do not come with the item. She added that she was already irritated because the woman looked up the old ad, arguing that if the cars were included, she would have shown them in a picture.
The woman then told her that it felt like she was ripping her off because the item was incomplete, Rikki claimed in the video. She responded by emphasizing the free nature of the listing and said, “It’s free!” She stated, “I’m not ripping you off because it’s free. It’s a free item.” She then pointed out that the four trucks could be used with whatever cars the woman’s child wanted.
The poster described the woman as calling her a b–ch after the exchange. She said she decided to donate the trucks instead. Marketplace transactions can lead to unexpected outcomes, as seen when a Florida man paid for food online.
Some viewers suggested the woman wanted a complete set to resell. One wrote, “She 100% wanted the “complete” set so she could resell it.” Another commenter shared a similar experience with a free item and said, “I was literally giving away an old couch, I had to change the ad to $20 and it went so fast.” Several people recommended blocking the woman right away. One stated, “Immediately block her.”
Others offered a suggested reply for the situation. One wrote, “You should have replied oh I found them so now it’s a complete set it’s $50 do you still want it?” Marketplace car deals have also raised questions for buyers, including when an NYC woman paid for a vehicle.
