Sam Souder, known online as soudersam, just told her followers that she needs to get a one-sided Brazilian butt lift. Posting to Instagram and TikTok, the content creator explained that she needed and wanted the surgery to fix a dent after a nasty fall at the Chambers Street Station in New York City. On February 27, 2024, at approximately 9:00 AM, she said that she was running to catch a train while wearing Adidas Sambas when she missed a step.
In her video, she told her viewers, “I missed a stair, and I fell down like 16 stairs, really hard, on my a–. The most pain I’ve ever been in, and I almost passed out.” She said that she initially believed it was just a massive bruise that would eventually go away. “I was doing heat, working out, arnica, all of the things to try to make it heal nicely. And one day I saw myself in the gym mirror, and I realized there was a dent there. There was a dent in my a–,” she explained.
As Souder explained in the caption, “I fell so hard I LITERALLY broke my a–.” She told her viewers, “It’s just created a ton of issues for me.” Souder also mentioned that the fall led to a torn labrum, which has required physical therapy. Then there was the cosmetic aspect of the injury. “Makes me so self-conscious,” Souder said. “I can’t wear certain things.” After visiting at least 25 doctors, she said a BBL was the option that could address both the scar tissue and the dent.
Souder took her time before deciding on surgery
“I’m, like, scared to get surgery,” Souder noted, “Like I don’t want to do this, but the scar that is there is so bad. It needs to be released. And obviously when they’re going to do that, I want them to make it look like me again. Like, I just want to look normal again. I just want to look like me.” She then joked, “So some influencers blow 20k on a Birkin. I’m buying a butt cheek.”
“I’m really nervous, though, because it’s an unprecedented surgery,” Souder told her viewers. “With a boob job or something, it’s the same process over and over. There’s a scar and damaged tissue. I’ve literally tried everything, PT, acupuncture, dry needling, you name it. And this is our last option.” She noted that her surgery is scheduled for November. Recovery can bring its own complications, as one woman found when Spirit Airlines refused to let her board a flight after cosmetic surgery.
Souder told Instagram and TikTok that doctors told her the dent was because the fat had died in that spot. According to the Cleveland Clinic, fat necrosis is the death of fat tissue that occurs due to injury or a loss of blood supply. It is generally harmless and often resolves on its own over time.
The Cleveland Clinic notes that fat necrosis can also result in hard lumps or, in the case of significant tissue death, visible dimpling or sagging under the skin. It can be caused by blunt trauma, such as falling or being involved in an accident, and it can sometimes leave cosmetic changes that require surgical correction.
The community responded with support, shared experiences, and caution. One commenter shared, “Omg I have the same thing. fell down a flight of concrete stairs in December, also tore my labrum and glute med tendon and was left with a giant dent that is never going away.” Since Souder has only mentioned the fat death, one user provided the community with more detail, writing, “When fat is hit with a lot of force it will compress and dies off.”
On TikTok, a user encouraged her decision to do the BBL. They wrote, “Do it while you have the ability to. When you’re in your 40s like me you’ll laugh & this will be a blip. Keep this in your back pocket (no pun intended) as lessons learned & lifes little bit of seasoning.”
One Instagrammer shared a humorous piece of advice she received once. They wrote, “The best advice I ever received was from a little old lady on the M train. She turned to me and said ‘honey, never run for a train. Trains are like men, there’s always going to be another one.’”
Souder shared, “My friends and I always joke that my life is like those things outside the car wash, like something really incredible will happen. Then the craziest thing you’ve ever heard of will happen; that’s like not great. Like this. But it always goes back and forth,” she said. Despite the nerves, she is committed to the process and plans to document it the way many creators share BBL journeys on TikTok. “So obviously I will be vlogging my BBL journey. That’s the update,” she told her viewers.
