A restaurant server says a group of teenagers nearly turned prom night into a costly dining disaster after most of the party allegedly slipped out before paying, leaving two classmates behind with a bill that totaled about $400. The story came from TikTok creator ACE (@dear.ace). In a recent video, the server recalled serving a large group of prom attendees who arrived dressed for the occasion and quickly ordered some of the restaurant’s most expensive menu items.
According to ACE, the group started with appetizers, mocktails, and premium entrees before ordering dessert. The server said the teenagers seemed unusually polite throughout the meal.
“They were really nice, like nicer than they should have been,” ACE said in the TikTok video. And that should have been her first warning sign, she said.
Then came the second round of dessert
In her post, ACE explains that after finishing dessert, the group ordered another round, which she called the second red flag of the situation. While they waited, the teenagers allegedly began leaving the table one at a time under the pretense of using the restroom.
ACE said the pattern quickly raised suspicions. Eventually, only one couple remained at the table. The server said they asked where everyone else had gone. The pair responded that their friends were in the restroom. ACE said that their explanation did not match what he had just seen. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s so funny, cause I just came from there and there’s not an entire crowd of teenagers in there,'” the server recalled.
After scanning the dining room and seeing no other students wearing prom attire, ACE confronted the remaining pair with what they described as two options. “I said, okay, so either we can do it like this. You call your buddies back in here, and you have them pay the $400 tab. Or I can call the police, and we can get your parents down here to explain to them why a bunch of teenagers were about to dine and dash.”
According to ACE, the friends never returned voluntarily, so restaurant staff contacted police. The server said officers soon discovered that the other teenagers had not actually left the property. Instead, they had reportedly waited in the parking lot for the remaining couple.
“Police were called. Parents were called soon after,” ACE said. “Prom was canceled for at least six of them,” ACE said she overheard conversations during the aftermath. “Let’s just say those parents made sure that that tip was fat,” the server said.
Some viewers focused less on the attempted dine-and-dash itself and more on the potential consequences for the students’ families. One commenter wrote, “I think what bothers me the most about this tho is that there’s a good chance that a lot of their parents were already footing the dinner bill so they were really just dining and dashing for the love of the game.” Another added, “I can’t even imagine I’d be mortified as their parent.”
ACE did not identify the restaurant or disclose where the incident took place. No publicly available police report matching the details of the incident from June or July 2026 could be independently verified.
