She comes home grieving her mother. Then her cheating husband demands to know why dinner isn’t ready: ‘Are you kidding me?’

'He came home with one thing on his mind'

A woman says her husband responded to news of her mother’s death by asking why she hadn’t made him dinner.

The exchange, recreated in a TikTok posted by a creator who goes by Aiyleen, shows her husband Chad coming home and immediately asking why she isn’t in the kitchen cooking dinner, despite a text she’d sent him earlier that day about her mom.

According to the video’s on-screen caption, “My cheating husband wants to know why I’m not cooking him dinner after my mom passed away.” In the roughly minute-long clip, Aiyleen sits wrapped in a blanket on the couch while an off-camera voice questions her about what time it is and why dinner isn’t ready.

He wanted dinner

He opens with a simple question about what time it is. When she guesses “six or seven,” he gets to the point. “Why aren’t you in the kitchen cooking?” She responds, “Are you kidding me?” and asks if he got her text.

His reply, “Which one?” does not exactly suggest he had given the message much thought. Once she clarifies, “the one about my mom,” he confirms he saw it, then pivots straight back to his complaint. “Yeah, I just had a long day at work and I want to know why dinner’s not ready.”

But his answer makes his priorities pretty clear. Even after acknowledging the text about her mother, his focus remains on why dinner isn’t ready, the kind of disconnect that can be difficult to ignore when someone treats their partner’s crisis as an inconvenience.

The exchange escalates further when Aiyleen brings up her own day. “I was in the sun all day. Like, I’ve been working my ass off,” she says, only for him to respond in a way that sounds more dismissive than sympathetic. “For the job that you signed up, you applied for, right? You applied for this job?”

By the time she tells him, “Chad, I’m not. I’m really not in the mood to be messed with right now,” she appears increasingly stunned that he is still arguing about dinner.

The clip also splices in screenshots that appear to reference a man named Chad and a Bumble profile, which the video frames as evidence supporting the “cheating husband” description in its caption. Aiyleen has not offered further verification beyond the clip itself, so the infidelity claim remains something the video asserts rather than something independently confirmed.

Commenters have largely sided with her. “I am SO sorry. You deserve so much better,” one wrote, while another summed up the husband’s half of the conversation more bluntly: “all I hear from him is ME ME ME.”

A third seemed to hope there was a less bleak explanation altogether: “No way this has to be a joke.”

For many commenters, the problem wasn’t just the dinner. It was the fact that, after being told something had happened to her mother, he still appeared more concerned with what she had or hadn’t done for him. What someone expects from a partner during a crisis can become an even bigger issue when far more is at stake, as one woman discovered while dealing with her cancer treatment.
