‘That’s so predatory’: Woman cancels a date with a guy 15 minutes before they were due to meet but TikTok thinks she dodged a bullet

Could he have been any more of a red flag?

A woman who canceled her date minutes before she was due to meet the guy has shared her reasons for doing so on TikTok and it seems most people on the platform are completely behind her decision.

TikToker Dani Coco offers dating advice to her nearly 70,000 followers on TikTok. However, in this case she shared her own dating experience, asking viewers if they thought she was in the wrong for canceling a mere 15 minutes before she was due to meet her date. Dani explains that she met the guy while walking her dog. They quickly hit it off as she claims the man was charismatic and so they exchange numbers and plan to meet up again.

Fast forward to the day of the date and things begin going wrong before they’ve even met up.

A couple of days later Dani received a text from the man asking her out for a drink that evening. She accepts but clarifies that she doesn’t drink, telling him she’ll just get a mocktail. In any normal situation this wouldn’t be a problem, but rather than accept Dani’s decision to not drink the man takes it as a challenge.

30 minutes before the date the man sends a text that reads, “see you soon, excited to get you drunk on a school night.” Even if we ignore the creepy undertones of that message it’s a pretty big red flag that he’s apparently not listening to her when she says she’s not drinking.

TikTok thinks the man was downright predatory

While Dani initially gives him the benefit of the doubt and assumes it’s a joke she reiterates that she won’t be drinking anything alcoholic. The man responds, “like I said, I’ll change your mind.” At this point she asks him to admit whether this is a bad joke or not and he tells her, “I’m very convincing, trust me you’ll have more fun if you have a drink.” Dani finally draws the line, telling him they shouldn’t go on a date after all.

In another video she explains that, on dates and with new friends, Dani uses what she calls “the double down method,” which she describes as a method in which she prompts a person to repeat the bad thing they said to see if they really stand by it or whether they back down and admit they’re wrong. This guy clearly wasn’t backing down.

In most cases the person who cancels the date last minute is usually the one in the wrong but in this case Dani’s response was completely understandable and almost all of TikTok agreed. “Guy here… that was very weird of him,” commented one person. Another person surmised, “He was testing your boundaries right away. Good you cancelled him immediately.”

Others focused on the initial text, the one in which he expressed excitement over getting Dani drunk, calling his attitude “predatory.” While it’s hard to determine exactly what the guy had planned there is absolutely no doubt he was giving off major creep vibes and Dani certainly dodged a bullet by canceling on him.
