‘There is a fungus eating away at her face’: TikToker refuses to use any skin care products on her face, even WATER, and the results are horrifying

TikTok encourages the strangest of things.

The skin is the body’s largest organ and it forms a protective barrier that shields us from all kinds of damage, be it from sun rays, chemicals, or even bacteria and fungus. So it’s important that you look after your skin right? Well one girl on TikTok has gone to the extreme in an attempt to achieve perfect skin.

Well the trouble is not everyone agrees on the best way to look after your skin. While there are plenty of creams and ointments that exfoliate, moisturize, and cleanse the skin, there’s always the risk of smothering your own body in all these “unnatural” chemicals. As such, some people believe it’s best to let your body do it’s own thing, after all, humans were able to look after their skin long before CeraVe was invented right?

One TikToker takes it too far

In her quest to heal her skin barrier, TikToker Tia Zakher has decided she will not let a single skin care or facial cleaning product including water touch her skin in order to presumably allow her body to use its natural mechanisms to remove the dead skin and allow her to have clear skin.

Zakher is using what has been dubbed the “Caveman method,” which gets its name from the idea that cavemen would not have washed their faces and yet their skin seemed alright. Trends like this often gain traction on platforms like TikTok, but there is very little science to back the idea up. Of course, we don’t know that for a fact as nobody’s seen a real life caveman. Also cavemen did a lot of things we wouldn’t do today. As Patrick Star once told SpongeBob, “we’re not cavemen, we have technology.”

Anyways Will this work? Probably not. While a detox from skincare products isn’t necessarily a bad thing, basic hygiene is still very much a necessity or else you’ll end up with a nasty skin infection or worse.

So what is that on her face?

As you’d expect, people on TikTok were more than a little grossed out by Zakher’s controversial method of obtaining clear skin. Many warned that the choice to completely negate any sort of basic washing could end up damaging her skin with many pointing out that it looked as if she had a possible fungal infection on her face.

You can see in most of her videos that the skin on her face has a rough and bumpy texture. While Zakher maintains that it is simply dead skin that she is refusing to wash off, others have claimed that it looks more like fungus. A fellow TikToker claimed that this was actually a fungus hurting her skin.

Is this real?

Naturally, many have questioned whether Zakher is simply rage-baiting with her videos. Trying to get a reaction out of viewers for her own entertainment. Some have pointed out that the lack of apparent fungus around her eyes, along with other patches of “normal” skin suggest this could be faked. In all honesty it’s probably not real, however, the woman herself has denied the claims and continues to post and update followers on her progress with the “Caveman method” so far.
