‘Who do I call?’: Man positively puzzled as previous owner of his home shows up and steals his plants

A man has shared the bizarre situation he has been dealing with for the past five years as he claims the previous owner of his house keeps coming by to tell him to water his plants. Sharing his conundrum on TikTok the man seems to be at a loss for what to do or how to even deal with the peculiar situation.

The man starts his video by explaining that he’s lived in his house for five years. Despite having lived in the house for so long he’s regularly pestered by the woman who lived in the house before him. She apparently stops by to check if the plants in the front yard are being taken care of and has even knocked on the door in the past to tell the man he needs to water the plants, “she’s always been super concerned with our front yard, it’s our front yard.” This woman is more obsessive than your average HOA.

However, the previous owner may have taken it a step too far as the man claims he spotted her out in the front with a spade in hand. Although he didn’t confront her at the time, when he later went out to check what she had been up to he noticed a plant missing from his yard.

“There’s been a plant theft”

The current homeowner doesn’t take the situation too seriously, joking “who do I call? There’s been a plant theft,” before simply saying “boggles the mind.” It seems he’s not too bothered about the plant after all, maybe the old homeowner was right to steal it.

The netizens of TikTok were split over how to respond to the situation. Some believed that the man should be cruel, “Call the police, have her return the plant and throw it in the trash as she hands it to you,” suggested one viewer. Meanwhile others wondered if the plant had sentimental value, “She’s obviously got some emotional attachment to these plants,” wrote one individual, “It’s weird, but I feel bad for her.” 

Meanwhile a third claims she should have dug up the plants before selling the property, “As a plant-lover I totally get it but she should’ve dug it up BEFORE she gave up possession of the house.” Let’s not forget, it has been five years at this point, maybe this woman just needs to let it go.

Many were frustrated that the man seemed unbothered by the theft, however, in a second video, he records himself stealing the plant back from the woman. He records himself running presumably from the scene of his crime with the plant in hand. “Why do I feel like the old home owner is his own mother…” One viewer asked, “I know that’s not the same plant but this is funny,” added another.
