‘Why would I do that?’: Woman realizes her date spiked her drink, then panics when he insists on taking her to his place, so she makes a move

A night out caught on camera takes an unsettling turn when the woman across the table suddenly says she doesn’t feel right, and the man she’s with keeps pushing to take her somewhere else instead of calling anyone. The clip, posted by TikTok creator Lainey, opens with on-screen text reading “REALIZING MY DATE DRUGGED MY DRINK,” and plays out almost entirely through a back-and-forth between the two at the table.

She tells him, “I don’t feel good.” When he asks if she wants him to call someone, she says no, and he offers to take her home instead. She explains she’s already paid the check, so he changes course and says, “I’m gonna take my, take you back to my place.” She refuses again, and he adds, “I don’t want your roommates to see you like this.”

The setup mirrors a separate clip in which a woman used candy to spike her friends’ drinks at a house party to show how easily it can happen without anyone noticing. In Lainey’s video, the man keeps steering the conversation, telling her more than once that she can “crash” at his place while she tries to figure out what’s happening to her body.

She confronts him directly

Eventually, she stops asking questions and puts it to him directly. “Did you put something in my drink?” she asks. Later, she says it outright, “I think you spiked my drink.” He denies it. “I would never,” he tells her, then asks, “Why would I do that?”

A voiceover then steps in, saying she “noticed this once it was too late and she couldn’t go back.” That’s when Lainey introduces a product called NightCap, describing it as a scrunchie that also works as a drink cover, and says, “It’s so important to cover your drinks with your NightCap drink cover.”

She goes on to say it “can save your life and prevent situations like this from happening,” though the clip doesn’t explain how a cover would help if a drink had already been spiked before being handed over, rather than left open on a table. It’s not the only date-related clip to raise flags for viewers this year. A woman in San Diego reportedly called off a date entirely after a single text sent about 30 minutes beforehand gave her enough of a bad feeling to back out.

The comments on Lainey’s post largely focused on the scenario’s safety concerns. One person wrote, “Get an emergency necklace.” Another commenter shared a personal story, writing that their godmother’s drink was allegedly spiked during a date and that she became “dizzy,” couldn’t walk, and later became “unresponsive.” A third explained their own precaution, writing, “That’s why I only drink from the bottle and put me hand over the top.”

The video ends with Lainey telling viewers, “Be safe, guys.”
