Woman kept hearing things and tried to convince herself it wasn’t real. Then she started seeing shadow figures in mirrors

Things are definitely going bump in the night.

It sounds like something straight out of a horror movie, but Ellie, known on TikTok as @makeupxellie, is sharing her chilling, real-life experiences at home that have left thousands of viewers unsettled. In just two days, her video detailing these strange occurrences has racked up over 700K views.

The TikToker explains that she lives on a large piece of land with her boyfriend, while his parents reside in a separate home nearby. Because they are a family of mechanics and construction workers, the sound of heavy Timberland boots is a familiar, everyday noise. However, it’s that very sound that has become a source of fear for Ellie.

Ellie reports that her front door, which has a distinct sound when it opens and closes, has been slamming shut in the middle of the night. Lately, she’s noticed it had become quieter, “like whatever it is that’s doing this is trying to be more sneaky, which is scary.”

It started simple

“So, usually what I used to hear was the door slam. Short, big, heavy boots stomping through the hallway, and my teaspoon drawer open.” It is a big deal for her “because I will not eat anything that requires a spoon unless I can use a teaspoon.” However, when she checked the drawer the next morning, it would be empty. She jokingly referred to this as the Teaspoon Fairy, until the situation took a much darker turn.

The experience evolved from missing cutlery to seeing shadow figures in mirrors. Ellie described these as dark masses that were definitely not her own shadow. It eventually escalated to her seeing a man sitting on her couch, smiling and staring at the television with perfect posture. Other people on the land have reported seeing the same man.

Ellie’s boyfriend’s little sister has seen Ellie walking through their house when Ellie was actually at home. The sister also witnessed a man following behind Ellie as she walked past a window. The physical encounters are just as terrifying. Ellie recounted a time on TikTok Live when her hair was yanked.

Then she began to hear distinct, identifiable voices. The activity reached a point where her lights began to flicker erratically. Ellie tried to communicate with the entity, asking if it was a spirit. She noted, “is this a spirit light? Straight on. Stayed on.” When she asked it to turn off if it was a ghost, the light cut out exactly on cue.

The comments section has been flooded with reactions. .🫧Elizabeth🫧. offered a theory, stating, “as someone who has studied the paranormal for a few years, this is definitely paranormal. Mirrors are known as portals in the paranormal world, anything can come through it and leave through it.”

Other users shared similar concerns, with Immy🍃🥹 suggesting, “Might be a mimic I’ve seen one in my old house before.” Others were simply shaken by the account, with 💜𝒥𝒶𝓈𝓂𝒾𝓃ℯ💜 writing, “it’s 1am. i’m terrified.”

Ellie is currently looking for any explanation that isn’t paranormal, as the situation has become increasingly difficult to live with.
