A day at Epcot took a rough turn for one Walt Disney World visitor, who says a ride she expected to be a straightforward simulator instead enclosed her in an extremely tight space with a screen inches from her face and no light beyond it. The TikTok creator, who posts as Abby’s thoughts, captioned the video “Mission: SPACE (Orange Team) is HORRIBLE. I barely survived this ride guys.. idk what happened to me.”
On camera, Abby never named the ride, describing it only as being “supposed to be, like, a space simulator or whatever.” She said that once it started, she began pressing “every single button on that ride, hoping that there was an emergency stop.” She called the experience “horrific” and said what happened next was a first for her: “For the first time in my life, I threw up on a ride. I thought I was. I thought I was done for.”
Her caption fills in what the video itself leaves out: she was riding Mission: SPACE on the Orange Team, the attraction’s more intense option. Disney describes the Orange Mission as the more intense of the two, while the Green Mission is the less intense option. Orange uses a centrifuge that spins and tilts to simulate the forces of a spacecraft launch and reentry.
A commenter says the warnings were there
One commenter pointed to the warnings riders receive before boarding, writing: “Did you read any of the multiple signs they do warn you about the rides intensity. Mission: SPACE at EPCOT ranges from a moderate motion simulator to an extremely intense centrifuge experience that generates up to 2.5 Gs of sustained pressure.”
Even after all that, Abby ended her video by telling people to go ride it anyway. “If y’all go to Epcot, you need to ride it and see for yourselves,” she said, before adding, “I hope you make it out. I barely did, but it was so bad.” Abby’s recommendation came despite everything she had just described.
Abby said things didn’t get much better once she stepped off the ride. She said a park employee stopped her and told her, “please sit down. You need to sit down. This is bad. You look bad,” and that she responded, “I’m like, okay, well.” The interaction was far less contentious than a recent Universal Orlando incident in which a mom claimed a character actor broke from script during her family’s meet-and-greet.
Reactions in the comments were split between sympathy and consequence. “Mission space is the worst ride known to man. I’m sorry you experienced it,” one person wrote. Another commenter claimed the ride was shut down afterward: “Girl they shut down the whole ride because you barfed, gave us lightning lane to come back lol.” Disney has not addressed the video, and there is no confirmation beyond that comment that the ride was actually stopped.
For now, Abby’s video is the only account of what happened inside the simulator, while the claim that the ride was shut down remains unconfirmed.
