Woman spots a long food line and uses doordash to skip everyone waiting: ‘That is the power of technology’

A woman posted a video showing a long line of customers waiting to order at a Velvet Taco. TikTok creator LaShana West said she had been standing in the line for some time before using DoorDash to order her food for pickup.

“Y’all see that line in there? Y’all see that line? I was behind all them people, right?” she said in the video, pointing the camera at the counter. Rather than wait, West went a different route.

“I went right to Doordash, ordered me my food for pickup, waited 10 minutes and cut the line,” she said. She then walked up to collect her order, bypassing the queue she’d just shown on camera.

A Different Way to Order

She wasn’t physically cutting in front of the other customers. Her pickup order was just handled separately from the people waiting to order at the counter. The difference between in-person and app orders has also come up at other chains, including Starbucks, where a barista recently discussed changes to how online orders are handled.

“That is the power of technology,” she said, before adding, “And don’t judge me cause I’m snacking, you feel me?” The video then shows the food she picked up, including a taco and bowl-style order with several small containers of sauce on the side.

DoorDash pickup orders are different from delivery orders, since customers place and pay for the order in the app before collecting it themselves. DoorDash says pickup is generally available to participating restaurants, with a lower merchant commission than delivery. In West’s case, that meant she could place her order through the app while other customers were still waiting to order at the counter.

The comment section was split. One reply focused on the cost, writing, “she paid $8 more,” while another pushed back, arguing, “yall in the comments sound crazy if you do pick up your price is the same as in store.”

A third commenter directed the criticism toward the restaurant instead, writing, “They worry about online orders more then the people at the stire.” Waiting for a fast-food order has been a source of frustration for other customers, too, including one McDonald’s customer.

She ended the video by showing off the food she had picked up, still snacking as she filmed. Her final comment was a request for viewers not to judge her for eating on camera: “And don’t judge me cause I’m snacking, you feel me?”
