Cybertruck attempts notorious off-road trail and it goes disastrously but the truck’s owner still claims they ‘conquered’ it

The Cybertruck broke down and got stuck on numerous occasions but hey, it technically crossed the finish line.

Tesla Cybertrucks aren’t very good vehicles, this is no secret. However, those who bought into the hype and own one of Elon Musk’s eyesores are still trying to convince the rest of us that it was a worthwhile investment despite the evidence to the contrary.

One Cybertruck owner decided to take on a particularly challenging off-road trail to prove that Musk’s abomination was as good, if not better, than the majority of other off-road trucks. He would be proven sorely wrong as the trail would ultimately prove a great challenge for the incredibly flawed vehicle, and yet the owner still believes that the Cybertruck accomplished the goal of beating the trail.

The Cybertruck takes on the Rubicon trail

For those who don’t know, the Rubicon is considered an incredibly difficult trail with numerous challenging obstacles that make it both hard and dangerous for even the most experienced drivers with the most well-equipped trucks. It’s only 22 miles long but usually takes about 2-3 days for drivers to complete it.

Well it took Roger Davis’ Tesla Cybertruck a little longer than that (over a week) to complete the notorious trail and I use the word “complete” lightly. Speaking to thedrive.com Davis prefaced his tale with a warning, “the Cybertruck should never cross the Rubicon without a skilled team of techs and spotters who know the trail well,” he told the outlet, “You also need to come with spares and be prepared.”

Davis claims that his truck “performed fantastically”  thanks to its light build and underbody protection. However, that’s not what others claimed they saw. Many off-roaders on the trail said they saw the Cybertruck being dragged over every single obstacle by another truck. Davis somewhat refuted the claims, “of course, we pulled line and tugged her over some of the harder stuff just like you would do for any other vehicle on this trail.”

So, if we’re being generous, this Muskmobile isn’t any better than you’re average car. He also claimed that they “never held up the trail,” although the truck had to stop multiple times for repairs along the treacherous journey. The Cybertruck bent four inner tie rods at the front and damaged two at the back. The steering rack also snapped resulting in them having to tie the truck to a tree to park it until they could get a new steering rack and rear axle.

The nightmare didn’t end there

That wasn’t all Davis had to deal with as he didn’t start his journey with a full battery charge meaning the truck was almost dead by the time it reached Rubicon Springs. The campground generators weren’t providing enough power either but luckily a “guardian angel” was able to bring a larger unit and charge the battery allowing Davis and his Cybertruck to finish the run.

The truck did technically get over the finish line despite all the setbacks and Davis views it as a win, although he doesn’t recommend others try it, at least not without the correct equipment and back up parts.
