What happened to Trivia Today and Brain Candy?

What's the reason for the disappearing act?

As human beings, we have an innate curiosity and a desire to push the boundaries of our knowledge from time to time. Whether it’s engaging in quizzes or unleashing our creativity to create something extraordinary, the thirst for knowledge seems insatiable. There are moments when we find ourselves wishing to idle time away, and our thoughts gravitate towards playing the latest mentally stimulating games like Wordle or perhaps a round of Trivia Today and/or Brain Candy – but in the end, we all fall into the dark hole of trivia.

These trivia games, albeit entertaining, are often overwhelming with the array of different apps that we’re bombarded with to choose from. With many users opting to pick just one poison, Brain Candy quickly became a source for all knowledge-seekers hoping to test their abilities. Housing several separate entities, Brain Candy was known for e-mailing its users all the daily trivia quizzes they could partake in, receiving a daily score in return. Recently, many users have noticed that this service was no longer available, so what truly happened?

Are Brain Candy and Trivia Today down?

On May 23, many users reported that Brain Candy and Trivia Today were no longer emailing them the latest quizzes. Hoping for it to be a temporary bug, many simply waited for a fix, but after two days, the websites for the respective services are still not working. With both the websites and email services down, plenty of speculation arose, including whether or not the services had completely ceased their activities.

While there has been no formal explanation given by either Brain Candy or Trivia Today, the problem most likely hails from an issue with the services. Given the popularity these services have among users, the likelihood of closing down is much slimmer than you might think. Even though it is certainly affecting multiple users, it will most likely be a matter of time until Brain Candy and Trivia Today are all up and running once more.

On a much lighter note, if you’re one of the people hoping to get the e-mails as soon as possible, remember not to redirect your anger toward FunTrivia. This trivia website has been bombarded with complaints regarding Trivia Today and Brain Candy, and the service was hilariously forced to add a disclaimer on its FAQ section, letting everyone know that it is not at all affiliated with the aforementioned services.

Perhaps the perfect marketing technique to get FunTrivia more subscribers, it may as well just be the perfect temporary replacement for all trivia aficionados, so in the meantime, maybe consider a new trivia game to fill in the knowledge gap in your heart.
