Louisiana care worker allegedly pours bleach into disabled client’s water, before telling them to drink up: ‘Absolutely horrifying’

A home care worker in Louisiana is facing multiple charges after a family accused him of mixing bleach into the drink of a disabled individual he was supposed to be caring for. Reginald Wilson, 30, was caught on camera appearing to pour the substance into a bottle of water. 

Home security footage seems to show Wilson in the act. The video, which was shared online by the man’s family, shows Wilson walking from the living room to the kitchen with a bottle of water in hand. He is then seen holding a larger plastic container which he obtained off-camera, but seemingly from somewhere in the kitchen. 

He appears to carefully pour the contents of the larger bottle, which was reportedly a tank of bleach, into the other bottle before shaking it up. The care worker, who works for the Heaven on Earth network, then casually walks back through to the living room, bottle in hand, before handing it to the man and telling him, “Here, drink this.”

Reginald Wilson later confessed

Police told WCTV that Wilson was confronted by the furious family of the individual following the incident. He subsequently confessed to tampering with the drink. Thankfully, the disabled individual under Wilson’s care apparently noticed that the drink tasted like bleach and alerted family members about the incident. He was later taken to the hospital for an evaluation, while Wilson was arrested, reports Fox News.

Online, people expressed their disgust over Wilson’s alleged actions, calling it an abuse of his position as a care worker: “Absolutely horrifying. Anyone entrusted with a vulnerable person’s care must be held accountable,” wrote one X user. Another said that Wilson “needs to go to jail for a very long time,” while a third called the care worker’s actions “beyond disturbing.”

Wilson’s motives are unclear, but he is now facing charges of mingling harmful substances, cruelty to persons with infirmities, and aggravated battery, according to The New York Post. He may face a prison sentence of up to two years, as well as a $1,000 fine if convicted of the first charge.

Wilson’s employer, Heaven on Earth, also confirmed that Wilson had been fired by the company and, in a statement, condemned his actions. 

“Heaven On Earth Network Inc. administration and staff are deeply saddened to see what transpired in the recent video shared on social media concerning a client and one of our staff members.” The statement reads. “We immediately took action and removed the worker and transported client to ER to be evaluated. We are working with local authorities as well as state agencies according to our policies and procedures.”
