After days of searching, a man named Billy Robertson recognized missing Georgia dentist Dr. Melanie Nadler Litt, who was apparently safe with a man at a shopping mall near where she disappeared. After announcing no signs of foul play, local law enforcement declared the case closed.
According to social media controversy, though, Robertson, one of Litt’s former patients, later described the scene at the mall when he confronted Litt. His post suggests Litt may be in trouble, and aligns with Litt’s husband, who says his wife still needs help.
“Found” missing woman, “chased man”
According to several widely shared social media reports, Robertson wrote, “Literally found missing woman and chased man. Ecologie Vintage & Resale,” two stores in the mall where Robertson reported sighting Litt and the man, now identified as Anthony Nestor. Nestor’s wife also reported him missing just a few days before Litt vanished.
Robertson’s post continued, “So I confronted them in the event and she was so scared and I asked if she was OK and male grabbed and took off with her I gave chase. He tried to say husband was after them.”
Litt’s husband’s update
Notably, Litt’s husband, Lesley Litt, shared a social media update that seems to confirm the post Robertson made after the police announced they had contacted his wife.
According to several widely shared but unverified posts on social media, Lesley wrote, “This is Lesley. Melanie is NOT SAFE. She was observed being dragged around a market by the person she is with. She is being manipulated and controlled. When confronted by the gentleman who spotted them because she was his dentist, the guy she was with started yelling at him.”
According to Lesley, his wife lied about what happened. Litt’s husband alleges that Nestor has domestic violence allegations in his past, and that Melanie was experiencing a mental health crisis and needs help.
He added, “The police do not know her and did not do her any justice whatsoever and let them both leave. If anyone sees her, please do not let her leave and call 988 and share her location.”
Contrary to these posts, however, the Cobb County Police Department’s Public Information Officer stated: “As of approximately 12:00 PM on October 19, 2025, Melanie Litt was located and is safe. We would like to reassure everyone that Melanie was not in any danger, and there is no indication of foul play.”
What happened to Melanie Litt?
Litt, 52, from Marietta, Georgia, went missing in mid-October 2025. Witnesses last saw Litt leaving work on a Monday at her dental practice in Marietta, not far from Atlanta. Litt then failed to report for a scheduled shift the next day at another clinic.
After she failed to arrive for that shift, coworkers contacted the authorities. A welfare check at her home revealed her powered-off cellphone and work bag near the entrance; her vehicle and wallet were absent
Authorities later located her vehicle abandoned in a large parking lot off Barrett Parkway in Cobb County. Investigators said there were no obvious signs of foul play at the scene or in the home, and they characterized the case as an active investigation rather than a crime.
Friends and family described Litt’s disappearance as highly out of character; she was preparing for an overseas vacation with her husband, and had lived in the area for years with their son and pets. But according to the Cobb County Police Department, Litt is safe and the case is closed. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
