A 20-year-old North Carolina woman, Maleigha Allen, is facing a first-degree murder charge after the death of her father, Michael Allen. But now, allegations have emerged about the family’s history, leading some to call for a new perspective on the case.
Authorities in Davidson County say on April 17, deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 7:20 a.m. emergency call involving a woman with stab wounds in Lexington, North Carolina. She was later identified as Maleigha. Deputies say she was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released.
While conducting a welfare check at a nearby residence on Bryant Road, investigators found 44-year-old Michael Allen, Maleigha’s father, dead inside the home. He had suffered multiple stab wounds. An autopsy later confirmed he died from sharp force trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators allege the killing was premeditated. According to law enforcement, evidence and circumstances led them to charge Maleigha with first-degree murder.
After being discharged from the hospital, police took her into custody, and she is currently being held without bond at the Davidson County Detention Center while the investigation continues.
“So much more to this case”
Public interest in the case intensified, however, after a Change.org petition and several social media posts, including one from TikTok creator Abby Blabby, highlighted alleged prior abuse claims and a controversial social media post attributed to Maleigha. “There is so much more to this case than what’s being told in the news,” Abby Blabby said in her video.
The creator also referenced a Facebook post allegedly made by Maleigha the day before the killing: “This will be a murder scene. Stop my daddy’s voices.”
Law enforcement has not verified this post, nor have they confirmed if it originated from a verified account belonging to Maleigha. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the motive or fully detailed what occurred inside the home.
Supporters of Maleigha describe her as a survivor and allege she endured long-term trauma, calling the incident not a random act of violence, but a desperate act after a lifetime of suffering.
North Carolina law enforcement officials, however, have not confirmed any connection between prior allegations and the April 2026 homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office also explicitly stated that she and her father were the only two residents in the home and has not yet commented on a history of domestic calls to that address.
As of now, Maleigha remains charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond while prosecutors prepare their case. The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office has described the investigation as active and ongoing, and officials have not released additional details about what led to the fatal encounter inside the home. Maleigha is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on May 12, 2026, for her next hearing regarding the first-degree murder charge.
