The prophecy has come true: Of Kings And Prophets has been axed by ABC after airing just two episodes this month, EW confirmed earlier today. The news comes a few weeks after ABC renewed a handful of shows, including Quantico and Once Upon A Time.

As it always is with these things, failing ratings seem to be the main culprit. The drama – which centered on the biblical story of King Saul and his successor, David – debuted to 3.33 million viewers with a 0.8 in the 18-49 age demographic. Episode 2 already showed signs of viewership slacking off, with 2.42 million tuning in and a 0.5 in the same demographic.

As EW reports, the network’s Shark Tank spinoff, Beyond The Tank, is set to replace Of Kings And Prophets on March 22 and continue for the rest of the spring season. The network has yet to comment on whether it will air the remaining episodes of the show or if Of Kings And Prophets has been killed off for good. Although uncertain, an initial scheduling change-up could have led to its poor ratings.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest renewals and cancellations as May draws nearer, so stay tuned.
