Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 Locked In For July 2019 Premiere

Actress Elizabeth Henstridge has confirmed via Instagra that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for its sixth season in July 2019.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6 is but a teeny-tiny speck on the horizon at this point, but that hasn’t stemmed excitement for what should be a memorable installment of ABC’s superhero drama.

Made up of 13 episodes in total – down from the usual batch of 22 – filming on S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s sixth season kicked off late last month and now, we know when to expect it on our screens. Though we’ve been told summer 2019 for a while, star Elizabeth Henstridge has just narrowed it down a bit more. Responding to a comment on one of her Instagram posts, the actress revealed that the show will be with us again in July. So, just under a year from now.

Unfortunately, we don’t know too much about what to expect from this next, and possibly final run just yet, but the season premiere, titled “Missing Pieces,” is set to be directed by series star Clark Gregg and while he’s obviously returning behind the scenes, we’re still not sure if he’ll be back as Phil Coulson, after the fan favorite apparently died in the season 5 finale.

Seeing as he’s such a major part of the show, and the MCU as a whole though, it’s tough to think of S.H.I.E.L.D. continuing on without him. Especially if the series ends up going past season 6. That said, the ensemble cast has grown enough over the years to stand on their own two feet without S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most famous agent. Plus, we’ve always got more Coulson to come in Captain Marvel.

Either way, you can catch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when it arrives on ABC in just under a year from now, in July of 2019. An exact premiere date still eludes us, but once we’ve got one, we’ll be sure to let you know.
