The first trailer for AoS season 7 was revealed at D23 today and gives us a hint at the new threat facing our heroes. The teaser mostly takes the form of one extended scene and is set in 1931 New York, where a group of cops are disturbed by mysterious visitors from another world who do not come in peace. These are the Chronicom from the planet Chronyca-2 and before long they’re killing the police and also stealing the face of the survivor.

The last few seconds of the trailer then blast through a few brief shots of the gang, as well as hint at further storylines. Fans have previously theorized that season 7 would feature further time travel and not remain in 1931, and this seems to confirm that as we get glimpses of anachronistic images such as rocket launchers and a HYDRA ring. As such, it looks like Coulson and co. will be visiting the 40s, 50s and 60s as well.

This fits with rumors about an unexpected crossover that may occur in the season. It looks like Agent Carter star Enver Gjokaj will drop by to reprise his role as Daniel Sousa, with Hayley Atwell also rumored to return as Peggy Carter herself. It would be a real treat for fans if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could find room in its last season to also tie up the loose ends of its fellow ABC show that was prematurely cancelled back in 2016, but we’ll have to wait and see if it does so.
