Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones – four NYC drifters imbued with superhuman abilities that have each received their own standalone series, with Danny Rand being the final Defender to enter the fray. Indeed, Marvel and Netflix’s fourth superhero solo series premiered late last week to decidedly mixed reviews, but both parties will soon draw our collective attention toward The Defenders.

It’s been a long time coming, but Marvel’s team-up series is inching closer and closer to its summer 2017 premiere, and we now have word that filming has wrapped on the inaugural season. Word comes by way of Instagram (via CBM), where a post from user ‘ycatscraftservice’ reveals a new piece of promo art for The Defenders in which you’ll find Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) casting a looming shadow over those four aforementioned heroes. What’s more, it appears as though Elodie Yung’s Elektra can be seen just underneath Weaver’s big bad, though it’s impossible to tell based on this photo alone.

Nevertheless, now that filming has officially wrapped on The Defenders, budding fans can surely look forward to an official showcase of Marvel’s ensemble series in action over the coming weeks and months. Until such a time as we have that footage for you, though, a second Instagram post from Elodie Yung herself suggests that the show’s logo has been tweaked ever so slightly ahead of its premiere later this year.

Now that Iron Fist has finally joined the Netflix family, Marvel will soon shift the spotlight over to The Defenders. Exactly when subscribers can expect the eight-part series is another question entirely, but we’ll keep you right up-to-date as more information is released online.
