Though Doom Patrol won’t be leading the charge once Warner Bros. finally rolls out the DC Universe streaming service later this year, the series centering on a band of superpowered misfits has still been garnering its share of attention as of late. After all, it should be quite intriguing to see how the gang factors into the live action Titans show to precede it, and how it’ll spinoff from that.
Right now, you’re probably wondering who’ll headline the 13-episode saga and, fortunately, we’re able to provide you with one more piece of the puzzle today. As it turns out, April Bowlby (Drop Dead Diva, Two and a Half Men) will be playing Elasti-Woman, a character The Hollywood Reporter describes as being “an actress on the rise, Rita Farr was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure. Longing for the days of old, Rita finds a place for herself among the Doom Patrol.”
As for the rest of the pack, Robotman, Negative Man and Crazy Jane (who’s said to be somewhat comparable to Harley Quinn) are expected to fight alongside the gal we’re talking about today, with Kelsey Grammer being courted for the role of the Chief.
Admittedly, this is somewhat of an obscure property, which is why we imagine Cyborg is being shoehorned into the mix. Normally, I associate Victor Stone with the Teen Titans or Justice League, but it makes sense for the Powers That Be to integrate a face more familiar to the mainstream in order to entice casual viewers.
DC Universe is set to launch sometime this fall via iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV, in addition to offering online and mobile access. Doom Patrol, like we said earlier, will likely join the party at a later date in 2019.
