If anything, November 2017 is going to be a month for DC fans to remember. Not only do we have Justice League arriving in theaters this weekend, but, in just two short weeks, The CW will be rolling out their next massive Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Earth-X.”
Now, we already know to expect loads of action and a level of comic book craziness reserved only for events of this magnitude, but it’s just a simple fact that the creative minds behind Arrow and its sister series will rely on other means to pad four hours of television as well.
As such, we’ll see how this multiversal battle will affect our heroes emotionally. According to Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle, the Green Arrow himself will be at the center of it all:
“The biggest surprise will be the emotional component of the crossover. I don’t think anyone is going to see that coming. It’s very much a dark love story. It’s the underpinnings of that that will make the Earth-X element a real contrast to that. Oliver [Stephen Amell] has a big role to play in it, and it’s bigger and better than any crossover we’ve done in the past. It’s going to be epic.”
Call me crazy, but I think what she had to say right there had something to do with photos that leaked from the set not too long ago. We don’t mean to spoil much here, but Oliver Queen’s personal life may see some radical changes once this one’s in the books.
Speaking of which, Todd Helbing, who calls the shots over on The Flash, had this to say about how characters that he oversees will be affected:
“In typical hero-villain fashion, the wedding is not the wedding that Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) probably dreamed of. This crossover is so different. Any time you’re trying to keep the narrative going on four different shows, it’s challenging. The Earth-X scenario we put everyone in really played into the story that we wanted to tell.”
The DC TV crossover event is scheduled to begin with Supergirl and Arrow on Monday, November 27, and concludes with The Flash and Legends on Tuesday, November 28 on The CW.
