Touting “insanely awesome” amounts of blood and Deadite guts, the first teaser for Ash Vs. Evil Dead season 2 has stormed online with a clear mission: save the world by any means necessary.

Heralding the return of Bruce Campbell’s iconic one-handed maniac, along with his zombie-slaying confidants Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo, season 2 of Starz’s gleefully over-the-top actioner picks up right where we left off, with Campbell’s world-weary Ash Williams plotting course for Elk Grove to confront and indeed join forces with his sworn enemy, Ruby (Lucy Lawless).

Comprising ten episodes in total, our first peek at Ash Vs. Evil Dead season 2 arrives just in time for San Diego Comic-Con later this month, and we’re betting Starz will ensure its sequel series will have a fairly major presence at the imminent event.

Ash vs Evil Dead follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Both Sam Raimi and Campbell – two stalwarts of the Evil Dead series from the off – are on board to produce once again, flanked by a team that includes Rob Tapert, and Ivan Raimi and showrunner Craig DiGregorio.

Rev those chainsaws and batten down the hatches, Ash Vs. Evil Dead season 2 will roar to life on Starz in October. That lends you ample time to catch up on all of the bloodshed the occurred during the show’s inaugural season, with Ash vs Evil Dead: The Complete First Season pegged to launch via Blu-ray on August 23.
