Awesome Doctor Who Fan Art Places Jodie In The TARDIS

Let’s be honest, a lot of Doctor Who fans have been calling for a female Doctor for years now. After all, there's no reason the character shouldn’t be a woman sometimes, aside from ‘tradition’ – every transformation in the show since it began in 1963 has delivered a new male face. But now, with Peter Capaldi stepping down from the iconic role, and Steven Moffat walking away from producing the show, a fresh approach has been revealed: The Doctor will next be played by Jodie Whittaker, which has predictably drawn some criticism.

Let’s be honest, a lot of Doctor Who fans have been calling for a female Doctor for years now. After all, there’s no reason the character shouldn’t be a woman sometimes, aside from ‘tradition’ – every transformation in the show since it began in 1963 has delivered a new male face. But now, with Peter Capaldi stepping down from the iconic role, and Steven Moffat walking away from producing the show, a fresh approach has been revealed: The Doctor will next be played by Jodie Whittaker, which has predictably drawn some criticism.

Still, the general consensus seems to be one of excitement to see a female in the role, and while the BBC is still holding out on us in regards to footage or even any photos of Jodie in action, one fan who goes by the name Dalekdom, has now given us the next best thing: some awesome pieces of art. Though obviously not official, they feature the actress standing in the TARDIS, prepped and ready to travel through time and space on what will no doubt be some thrilling adventures.

We’ve included them in the gallery below, along with some of the Dalekdom’s previous Doctor Who work, for your viewing pleasure.

Again, these aren’t official photos and there’s nothing to say that Jodie will even look like this when she makes her debut. If nothing else though, they should be enough to tide us over until Doctor Who is back on our screens. Thankfully, that’ll be quite soon, as December will bring about the 2017 Christmas Special, “Twice Upon a Time,” which will simultaneously usher in Whittaker as the titular hero and bid farewell to Peter Capaldi, who’s set to hang up his hat for good this festive season.

Not only that, but if recent rumors are to be believed, we may be seeing Jenna Coleman back on the show as well, as she’s said to be returning to help see Capaldi off. That remains unconfirmed, of course, but for a taste of what’s to come, be sure to check out the trailer for “Twice Upon a Time” below.
