It looks like Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler may have found the lead for their upcoming Supergirl series at CBS, as TheWrap reports that The Vampire Diaries and The Originals actress Claire Holt is in the running for the role.
The report claims that Holt is merely “among those testing” for the part of Kara Zor-El, the Last Daughter of Krypton who may or may not be Superman’s cousin in the new series. That means that we’ll likely hear other names rumored for the role before Holt gets the chance to sign the dotted line.
Still, it makes sense that her name would come up for the part; she not only looks the part, but Warner Bros. has a habit of pulling from its various teen-driven dramas to populate its new ones. Both Colton Haynes and Katie Cassidy jumped from Melrose Place to Arrow, Robbie Amell moved from the ill-fated The Tomorrow People to The Flash, and Grant Gustin went from a recurring role on 90210 to playing The Flash himself. So, I wouldn’t be too surprised if someone like Holt wound up landing the Supergirl gig.
