Once upon a time, Marjorie Taylor Greene only had eyes for Donald Trump. The pair walked in lockstep on all things MAGA, with Greene openly professing her “love” for him to anyone who’d listen.
Those days are long gone, with Trump and Greene splitting over her campaign to release the Epstein files and advocate for justice for Epstein victims. Their disagreement quickly spilled over into acrimony, with Trump dubbing her “Marjorie “Traitor” Greene.”
She says she then received multiple death threats, which Greene said were “being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world”, and said this is what she gets from “the man I supported and helped get elected”. Now, in a new interview, Greene has concluded that the Republican Party isn’t a great place for women.
“It’s a boy’s club, it really is”
Speaking on PBS show Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, Greene was asked if women are respected in the MAGA movement. She replied, “I don’t think women are respected in the Republican Party. … It’s a boy’s club, it really is, and that comes from the top down. It’s really a shame. And then you have the president demeaning women constantly, he’s constantly attacking women.” Greene underlined that she “very much [believes] in women’s rights” but that she is not “out there saying we need to shove it in men’s faces.”
She went on to specifically criticise Trump himself and warn that his words will deter women from voting Republican: “When the president is attacking someone like Taylor Swift, for example, one of the most popular pop stars, who young women absolutely love, and he’s, as the president, is attacking her for absolutely no reason, that’s a message you’re telling women. And it’s a horrible message.”
Greene continued: “A lot of women don’t want to vote for Republicans, and I’m hearing that more and more, because they don’t take us serious in what we bring to the table. They just want to hold the power themselves and, you know, I think the Republican Party is suffering for it, and will continue to suffer.”
Her criticism of Trump’s “horrible message” to women is some of the lighter criticism she’s thrown his way in recent months. In April, when Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself as Christ and generated a brief but furious response from Christians, Greene didn’t mince her words, saying this was “more than blasphemy, it’s an Antichrist spirit.”
Greene’s next career step is currently unclear. She has launched a social media series called Life with MTG across multiple platforms, is a regular talking head across conservative news, and is also still involved in the running of her family’s construction company.
In the more distant future, she’s teased launching a new political party to fight establishment politics: “There is a group of us that have literally fought the system, and I think there’s a group of us that if we decide to align, we could launch a true America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats and Republicans, but could align some serious players from the right and the left and move forward.”
