Fox has released two thrilling new clips ahead of Monday’s brand new episode of Gotham, “The Son of Gotham.” If what these snippets show reflect even a fraction of what the episode has in store for us, then we are in for a real treat.

In the first clip, Jim Gordon confronts his superior, Nathaniel Barnes, as he puts together the pieces connecting the recently arrested Mayor Theo Galavan to the mysterious Order of St. Dumas. It seems that these shadowy monks have been bringing their own lethal brand of justice to Gotham and our favorite cop feels something needs to be done before it is too late.

According to Gordon, their arrival is in no way coincidental with Galavan’s incarceration. We the viewers know this to be true, but we’ll have to enjoy the uphill battle as the show inches toward what will no doubt be an explosive mid-season finale.

The second clip sees Alfred Pennyworth confront Tabitha Galavan/The Tigress. Bruce Wayne’s trusted butler has been most suspicious of the Galavans and now has the opportunity to take out some of his frustration. The battle that ensues between them, at least the portion of it that we have been afforded, doesn’t exactly give Arrow a run for its money, but is quite visceral nonetheless.

This episode will also see the debut of an original character, The Knife, played by Tommy Flanagan, a ruthless hitman who offers his services to the highest bidder.

In “Rise of the Villains: The Son of Gotham,” Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) confronts a suspect who is connected to Theo Galavan (James Frain), but falls short of obtaining any information. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) gets one step closer to discovering the name of his parent’s killer.
