She’s a deadly cage fighter and one-half of Marvel’s Daughters of the Dragon – a dynamic duo that also includes Luke Cage star Misty Knight – and down below, you’ll see Colleen Wing’s lethal martial arts expert take center stage on the latest Iron Fist character poster.

Played here by Jessica Henwick, Wing is a key supporting player in the origin story of Danny Rand. Imbued with the power of the Iron Fist, previous trailers have revealed how Finn Jones’ title hero circles back to New York City only to find that his family’s prized business, Rand Enterprises, has fallen prey to corruption. Not only that, but the streets of Harlem and Hell’s Kitchen have been overrun with criminals and power-mongering drug lords. No pressure, then.

Indeed, such an uptick in local crime has prompted the citizens of New York to toughen up by any means necessary, and you’ll no doubt remember the scene at the tail-end of Luke Cage where Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple is seen picking up a flyer advertising Colleen Wing’s self-defence class. It’s a neat way to dovetail Marvel’s two solo series, but as Henwick revealed during a recent chat with Collider, that particular piece of connective tissue is much more than just a moment of fan service.

Working with Rosario and creating the Colleen/Claire dynamic has been one of my favorite experiences working with any actor or actress. Being able to show audiences that, two women who support each other, and there’s no competition, I’m her sensei, I’m her teacher, but I’m also a sister.

Iron Fist is booked in for a premiere on March 17th and will introduce the fourth and final member of The Defenders, Marvel’s ensemble of heroes that will share the spotlight later in 2017. Assuming all goes according to plan, Netflix subscribers can also look forward to the arrival of a Jon Bernthal-led Punisher spinoff before the year’s end, which is currently lensing in NYC.

Iron Fist

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
