Constantine Confirmed To Hit On Citizen Cold During His Legends Of Tomorrow Visit

Even after enjoying a thirteen-episode run of his own series and putting in a couple Arrowverse guest shots to follow, there’s still much to be explored when it comes to Matt Ryan’s John Constantine. But to his credit, many DC fans believe his portrayal to be the definitive one – and, to be honest, this writer has to agree with them.

But one aspect we haven’t really seen fleshed out is that of his bisexuality. Yes, the charismatic demonologist does indeed swing both ways, and we’ll get a hint of that during his upcoming stay on Legends of Tomorrow. Hell(blazer), the most recent trade paperback that I read featuring the character tackled this head on, as John was in the midst of dating another man.

In fact, not long ago, actor Dominic Purcell fondly remembered shooting a scene with “Trenchcoat” in which “he was hitting on Wentworth’s character,” whom you’ll know as Citizen Cold. From the sound of it, he had a good time doing so:

“Rory watching Citizen Cold and Trenchcoat flirt with one another was like too much for Rory, so he just f*cking got out of there. That’s what I remember doing. It’s all too much! Too much information! Which makes it really funny. The scene is hysterical. We were all just on the floor laughing, so it’s all done in good fun.”

As amusing as that scene sounds, we don’t expect Constantine to get very far. After all, “Leo” Snart is already in a committed relationship with The Ray, a superhero whom Mr. Terrific hilariously pointed out hides his secret identity by placing “The” in front of his first name.

Additionally, executive producer and showrunner Phil Klemmer had this to say regarding the many facets of Constantine:

“As for the character of Constantine, we knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends.”

Legends of Tomorrow returns with new episodes on Monday, February 12.
