Damon Lindelof Says He Would Welcome A Lost Revival

In this current age of television revivals, it really seems like almost a no brainer to bring back Lost. Premiering in 2004, the hit ABC show ran for 6 seasons and quickly became one of the hottest properties across any medium thanks to its captivating plot and never ending mysteries, which gripped viewers week in and week out. Its impact on pop culture was enormous and even though the ratings slid near the end, it remains as one of the most important television shows of the last few decades.

Not only that, but its finale proved to be incredibly divisive and for years now fans have been calling for more. While there have been whispers here and there of something potentially brewing in development, nothing’s been made official just yet. Unfortunately, that doesn’t exactly change today, but co-creator Damon Lindelof has, once again, revealed that he’s still open to taking another swing at the show, and also gave a rough idea of how he imagines it being done.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, here’s what he shared:

“Carlton [Cuse] and I always said that we welcome any future crack at the [intellectual property]. Lost was bigger than us and bigger than [co-creator] J.J. [Abrams]. There’s something really exciting about the fact that George Lucas sold the Star Wars universe and now the people who grew up watching it are making it. Maybe the same thing could be said for Lost.”

Though this suggests that the original creators might not be too involved in a potential revival, it’s still encouraging to hear. Some people actually blame Lindelof, among others, for how convoluted and messy everything got near the end, so a lot of fans would probably be happy to hear that he’d pass the torch to new talent. And quite honestly, if Lost were to come back, that’s how we’d want to see it happen – under new guidance.

Right now, nothing concrete has emerged and as such, it’s not worth putting too much thought into how a revival could take shape. Regardless, we will say that we’d be all for seeing more Lost as long as they do it the right way and don’t just bring it back for the sake of it. That may seem like we’re stating the obvious, but we’ve seen so many shows be resurrected in the last few years simply to cash-in on the property’s well-recognized name and it almost always turns out poorly.

That, coupled with the fact that Lost pissed a lot of people off with its ending in the first place, means that whoever does ultimately bring the show back to television (assuming something ever comes to fruition), will have to tread very carefully indeed.

Tell us, what are your thoughts on all this? Would you like to see some sort of revival happen? If so, how do you envision it happening? Sound off in the usual place and give us your thoughts!
