First Look At Danneel Ackles On The Set Of Supernatural

No matter what your level of Supernatural fandom may be, there's a reasonable chance you've heard the term "SPN Family" at some point. And while I myself may be a diehard viewer that's been on board ever since the pilot episode originally aired, I admittedly take no part in the whole Tumblr thing. Still, it's always great to see how a slice of fiction such as this little horror series that could has united folks the world over.

The latest round of news, however, looks at “SPN Family” from a different perspective because, well, we’re now to take it quite literally. As you may have heard, Danneel Ackles, wife of series star Jensen Ackles, will soon be boarding the show in a guest role. Set to play Sister Jo on a recurring basis sometime in the back half of season 13, she’s been described as being “a well-known faith healer whose good works attract the attention of someone very, very bad: Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino),” something we’ll discuss further in a moment.

In the meantime, though, be sure to take a look at Danneel’s first shot from the set, which she has treated us to via her Instagram page. Not surprisingly, Jensen’s hamming it up with some serious Blue Steel as his lady love couldn’t help but point out how “They take things very seriously here.”

As for what the specifics of her role may be, we’ll just have to wait and see, but knowing that she’s fated to catch Lucifer’s eye doesn’t bode well for her. Those currently up to speed are well aware of how Apocalypse World’s Michael siphoned his grace, so the former King of Hell is now coasting along without his mojo, thus rendering his finger snaps non-lethal. But with the (possibly reluctant) help of Sister Jo, who knows what the future may bring?

Supernatural returns with new episodes on Thursday, January 18 on The CW.
