The Doctor is (almost) ready to administer a brand new dose of sci-fi wonder, and to prove it, the BBC has today rolled out a brand new action shot from season 11 featuring Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole’s new companions, Yaz and Ryan.

Together, they form two-thirds of Doctor Who‘s new TARDIS crew – the other member being Bradley Walsh as Graham – and they appear to be on some sort of dangerous mission in the latest still from season 11.

Due to premiere in October, the eleventh season of Who is all about the thirteenth Time Lord (spoilers: it’s Jodie Whittaker) and her journey to solve the many riddles of the universe. She has a brand new TARDIS team in her corner, too, and we imagine the show’s creators still have one or two surprises tucked up their collective sleeve for October.

But in order to get viewers up to speed, below you’ll see a shot of Yaz and Ryan looking particularly baffled/confused by something – or someone – in the distance.

This photo initially emerged via the official Doctor Who Twitter feed (h/t Radio Times) where curious fans soon began wondering when, exactly Doctor Who season 11 will arrive. Still no word on that specific launch date, but we’ve since learned that this year’s installment is considerably darker (in parts) than its predecessors, with a spooky episode to boot. Perhaps that particular outing will be saved until Halloween?

Season 11 of Doctor Who is slated to arrive in October – when, exactly, we’re not sure, but we’ll update you if and when the BBC makes things official and settles on a specific date. Until then, you can enjoy this ominous shot of Yaz And Ryan out in the field.
