Doctor Who Fans Are Getting Impatient For The Season 11 Premiere Date

On Friday, the BBC officially revealed that production on season 11 of Doctor Who had wrapped after a lengthy nine month shoot. On Friday, the BBC officially revealed that production on season 11 of Doctor Who had wrapped after a lengthy nine month shoot. Which is good news as it means we’re that bit closer to seeing the Thirteenth Doctor properly make her mark on our screens. The trouble is, we have no idea when the new season is going to air, and fans are getting pretty impatient as we wait to find out.

When the Doctor Who Twitter account revealed the wrap on filming, the post was met with an onslaught of replies from people desperate to have a date to mark in their calendars for when we can expect to see Jodie Whittaker and her TARDIS team arrive.

Here’s just a small selection of responses from those hungry to get their Who fix:

You can’t blame the fans for their reaction here. After all, it feels like we’ve been waiting for forever to see the Thirteenth Doctor’s era begin. It’s now been over a year since Whittaker was first unveiled as the latest incarnation of the Time Lord and we still haven’t seen her in action, except for a brief cameo at the end of the 2017 Christmas special.

And yet, the BBC continues to hold back the release date from us. It’s likely this is an outcome of new showrunner Chris Chibnall’s determination to keep the new season as much of a surprise as possible. It’s worth noting, though, that you kind of need to tell people when a show’s airing so that they can, you know, watch it. That said, it would be exciting if the season 11 premiere suddenly materialized out of nowhere. Bad for ratings, sure, but exciting for fans.

The thinking is that Doctor Who will kick off its new run in either September or October, so it wouldn’t be too crazy to expect some more information this month. Until then, let’s just keep tweeting at the BBC, ok?
